i know this sounds completely idiotic but...i will say it anyway...are you sure you have the card CONNECTED to the PSU. Not just in the PCIe slot, but with something in the ATX power slot of the card...

I have had this aswell, thought it was my machine.

It seems to happen less frequent with the case off, so i suspected my Graphics card was on the way out?

However this actaully happened in windows for me recently, could it be that bf2 just pushes weak hardware to the very limit so causes this more often

300w isn't enought for a 6600GT+ CPU.


I had the a very similar problem when I first installed the game. *Only* BF2 hard booting the PC. It seemed the game was somehow sensitive to gfx overclocking with the original drivers which came with the game, because it was fine at stock speeds... The 71.84 (I think..) Nvidia drivers cured the problem. =PxR=TitanSound, if you're still using the drivers which came on the BF2 disk. Nuke them and install the latest (78.01) from the Nvidia site.
Use Driver Cleaner to uninstall the drivers you're using before installing the latest.

The last time I had issues with once again, BF2 only, was when I OCed my CPU and RAM... increasing the ram voltage from 2.7v to 2.8v cured this problem.

So.. based on this experience plus other likely suspects, it's possibly either.. video drivers, ram voltage, heat issues or a crappy PSU.

i'm going thru the same situation and it's driving me crazy, right when the map starts to load it reboots....i played the game for almost 5 months now w/out a problems.....it just started 2 days ago and now it reboots everytime...

I'm running a 500w psu so i don't think that's the problem...also wit a xfx7800 gt and a 3.4ghz cpu....i don't get dis because all of my other games are running fine...i tried rolling back my driver from 78.01 to 77.72 to the newest one...makes no differents.....reboots my computer every single TIME!!! :cry: i'm just hoping EA comes out wit a new patch before i resort to reformating my whole freakin computer......any one wit suggestion..?

I have exactly the same problem as titan sound who started this thread. It all started 4 weeks ago just before the new patch.

I run GF6800 GT 256MB,AMD 3200 64BIT, 1.5GB DDR400 RAM and Hiper 580watt Psu.
I thought it was a graphics card problem so I swapped it but it was still the same. I also considered it was my chip overheating, but can't be that cos its running at 58 degrees. Tried swapping graphics drivers but to no avail

Really don't know what to do.

I'm still getting it. I have a friend coming round soon with his GFX card and RAM so we are gonna try that and see if the problem persists.

the ccleaner did not work....the same problem persists....but it is a neat lil program tho..i like it...but my bf2 still reboots my freakin computer!! :ar15: i'm going crazy..

it did help me in terms of cleaning up my registry and taking out some spyware..but it didn't fix the problem of my bf2 rebooting my computer...did you have the same problem CaptKot? i think imma just reformat my computer and i'll everyone whether it works or not...keeping my fingers crossed

Formatting didnt work for me...I even tried the game on 2 seperate clean hard drives to no avail

what kind of sound card are you guys using? i'm using a creative sound blaster live 24bit...a lot of people are experiencing the same problem wit the same card

I was using that card (external version) but I switched over to my onboard to see if that solved it. I wiped all creativer drivers and cleaned but no luck

I really am guessing its the RAM, GFX card or PSU. I just have not had the time to test them individually.
