i like the game as it is, but if anybody here has played BattleGroup42 mod for bf42 , the way they did tanks was sheer genius. they had tthe driver/gunner, and a machine gunner in the hull, and a spot for the top gunner. very sweet.
New BF2 fixes (a suggestion)

There's a game like this, very realistic, called America's Army. You may have heard of it, its a lot of funOriginally posted by Cotiziput it this way. any FPS that is entirely realism based woudl completely suck. you would get your weapon, run around, get shot by a tank, die, and then game would end since ya know. your dead, and people USUALLY dont respawn in real life...

I downloaded it again last night. I miss playing AAO. Nothing was quite as much fun as good play on SF Hospital. Ph33r mah machine gun!

I doubt anyone would.. But what fun would the driver be having? They would be forced to sit there, doing nothing, while you rack up points as the gunner.but if I had a teammate as my driver while I'm gunning, I really wouldn't mind.
If you can't find a way to take down a hovering chopper, then I feel sorry for you.but what about maps like Mashtuur City where there are no SAMs or jets to take down the heavy helo?
For the mobile spawn points, these have never proven a problem for me. They actually provide me with a concentration of enemies falling from the sky. I smell easy kills
. And as for the ejecting/parachute "fixes", what in the hell would those accomplish?

This isn't a flame. I'm just quoting for brevity.1. You're forgetting about driver assist. Same as when a gunner in a helo or tank kills a target. You get a portion of the kill points. I'm not arguing for the division of driver and gunner to spurn an argument; I'm just arguing toward something that I feel might improve the game. It's just an opinion, so don't take it as if what I say is what EA will implement in the next hour.Originally posted by x3phyrI doubt anyone would.. But what fun would the driver be having? I understand the whole "BF2 is an arcade game" argument, and I agree. I'm not trying to push BF2 toward America's Army. Granted that such a game is very detailed and highly realistic, but I don't want to map my buttons so I can unjam and clean my barrel every 300 rounds... I just want to see an end to the one-man tank whoring. Two-man tank whoring is much more acceptable. :)
2. I know the tactic of grabbing a jeep's turret gun and picking off the helos, and I'm a big advocate for it. What I was suggesting for the air drop fixes was:- Jet pilots can use parachutes. That's realistic and acceptable because from high altitudes a rappelling cable will do about as much as a cocktail umbrella will do in a flash flood.
- I'm probably going to turn away from the rappelling cables on the heavy helos. I'd probably stick with the chute idea if heavy helos could be taken down better. I dunno. I'm a bit torn and a little bitter, but I think this part of the negotiation will fizzle about as fast as Ricky Martin.
- Now, the attack helos are a different matter. Never in my life have I heard of someone bailing with a chute from an attack helo. I know about the arcade argument, but capable pilots and gunners should be able to stay alive for quite a while. That's not an insult if you have about a 20-second life expectancy, but at least you know you have room to improve if you do. :) Attack helos are... how can I put this... sort of a "do or die" vehicle. If you step up to the helo pad and commit yourself to flying these bad boys, you are saying that you are dedicating your time on that round to taking out ground targets and other helos. Imagine if your whole team knew that you snaked the only attack helo so that you could fly one base over and bail out at 200ft so you can HALO and cap the flag... only to be fragged 5ft from where you landed. Factor in the time it takes for your attack helo to spin out of control, crash, and then respawn back at base. I just want to see it get mixed up by making attack helo pilots actually dismount the ride instead of pop the hatch and swan dive to 5ft sea level and deploy.
All in all, I guess we all just have to see what EA/DICE can do with their patches. It's been 2 months and I'm not completely disappointed, but we can all admit that BF2 has EA written all over it--another rushed, unpolished product with bugs and issues. If EA/DICE can prove that their patches are both effective and timely, then I think they can iron out the issues by Christmas time.
But how about you guys? Any suggestive fixes of your own? Remember: keep it civil and on-topic.Comment

You made a lot of good suggestions there.
Key binds are out of hand, I tried binding my parachute to F and after about 10 falling deaths I decided it wasn't going to magically work and had to change back to 9. Now I use my old method of reaching over to mash my number keys with my left hand so that I can continue to look around with my right hand on the mouse.Comment
