I know that there are a bunch of threads that are similar to this, but they have died off over the past week or so. Nonetheless, we have discovered some fixes that could fix some imbalance issues and bring some realism at the same time! Please read and pitch in if it's constructive, realistic, and polite. Flamers and trolls, please exit in an orderly fashion.
1. There has been a slew of complaints about heavy helos as high altitude mobile spawn points. This has existed in all sorts of BF games, not just BF2. Our suggestion is that people jumping from helos do not have parachutes. Instead, the pilot must be within 100ft of a solid surface so that anyone in a passenger seat (not pilot or gunner seats) can jump out in the form of a rappelling rope. If you are a pilot or gunner, you must switch to an empty passenger seat to bail out. Mind the vicious tailspin on the way down.
2. Only jet pilots can bail out with parachutes. No, you don't need an ejection seat animation, but at least it castrates the high altitude helo spawns properly.
3. Attack helo pilots cannot bail out. Sorry, but you wanted the killing machine, you're going down with it. To get out, you have to land.
4. Attack helos and bomber jets cannot serve as mobile spawn points if the squad leader is flying. Just a touch of realism that no one will miss. Both of these aircraft can land, so you can pick up your buddy if you're skilled enough.
5. Make heavy tanks at least a 2-man vehicle to function properly (divide the driver and gunner positions). I know, I know. It's an arcade game. We've all heard it a bajillion times, but there is some merit to the request. First off, it promotes team play. No more of getting a noob swiping your tank right before your eyes, only to drive 50ft onto a mine, rinse and repeat. Second, it is probably the smallest appeasement to all military buffs out here. No, the tanks do not come with laser range finders or barrel stabilizers, but I think separating the driver from the gunner will warm some small place in your hearts.
6. Improve the tracking and speed of the IGLA and Stingers. It's already hard enough trying to take down a jet with another jet, but the SAMs are just a joke. All you can do is target the guy and watch him drop flares. The rest is just him circling you and giving you the finger (still trying to find that emote...). Don't worry if you're a helo pilot. The flares still work, and a fully-crewed helo can take out SAMs with the greatest of ease.
7. Please take another look at the key binds. There are certain buttons that you cannot remap, such as the 3D map. I actually have a personal gripe about this, so at least I'm admitting a bias to it: my TeamSpeak talk button is the Alt button, so I'd like to remap the 3D map to another button that I have no chance of accidentally pressing.
That's all for now. Lets see some constructive contribution.
