    New BF2 fixes (a suggestion)

I know that there are a bunch of threads that are similar to this, but they have died off over the past week or so. Nonetheless, we have discovered some fixes that could fix some imbalance issues and bring some realism at the same time! Please read and pitch in if it's constructive, realistic, and polite. Flamers and trolls, please exit in an orderly fashion.

    1. There has been a slew of complaints about heavy helos as high altitude mobile spawn points. This has existed in all sorts of BF games, not just BF2. Our suggestion is that people jumping from helos do not have parachutes. Instead, the pilot must be within 100ft of a solid surface so that anyone in a passenger seat (not pilot or gunner seats) can jump out in the form of a rappelling rope. If you are a pilot or gunner, you must switch to an empty passenger seat to bail out. Mind the vicious tailspin on the way down.

    2. Only jet pilots can bail out with parachutes. No, you don't need an ejection seat animation, but at least it castrates the high altitude helo spawns properly.

    3. Attack helo pilots cannot bail out. Sorry, but you wanted the killing machine, you're going down with it. To get out, you have to land.

    4. Attack helos and bomber jets cannot serve as mobile spawn points if the squad leader is flying. Just a touch of realism that no one will miss. Both of these aircraft can land, so you can pick up your buddy if you're skilled enough.

    5. Make heavy tanks at least a 2-man vehicle to function properly (divide the driver and gunner positions). I know, I know. It's an arcade game. We've all heard it a bajillion times, but there is some merit to the request. First off, it promotes team play. No more of getting a noob swiping your tank right before your eyes, only to drive 50ft onto a mine, rinse and repeat. Second, it is probably the smallest appeasement to all military buffs out here. No, the tanks do not come with laser range finders or barrel stabilizers, but I think separating the driver from the gunner will warm some small place in your hearts.

    6. Improve the tracking and speed of the IGLA and Stingers. It's already hard enough trying to take down a jet with another jet, but the SAMs are just a joke. All you can do is target the guy and watch him drop flares. The rest is just him circling you and giving you the finger (still trying to find that emote...). Don't worry if you're a helo pilot. The flares still work, and a fully-crewed helo can take out SAMs with the greatest of ease.

    7. Please take another look at the key binds. There are certain buttons that you cannot remap, such as the 3D map. I actually have a personal gripe about this, so at least I'm admitting a bias to it: my TeamSpeak talk button is the Alt button, so I'd like to remap the 3D map to another button that I have no chance of accidentally pressing.

That's all for now. Lets see some constructive contribution.

The last two are about the only ones i agree with. The others are for mods not devs. If you changed these it wouldnt be battlefield anymore, they are part of the series of arcade games.

''3. Attack helo pilots cannot bail out. Sorry, but you wanted the killing machine, you're going down with it. To get out, you have to land.''

I like the sound of that

I definately agree with the SAM point, otherwise... I like the game how it is, arcadey. If I didn't, I'd switch to another game :)

only the last two points are making sence, the rest is realy stupid and will only make people go away from the game.

you point nr 1: my god, why would this balance the game ? if you are a gunner and you jump out of a heli, well the main rotor blows you down much harder then the tail spin would kill you

point nr 2 : again, in wich way would this balance the game ?

point nr 3 : this would only cause helicopter whores, because if you die with it, you spawn with it, never thaught about that he

point nr 4 : why? realism ? so if you are a squadleader your squad can't span anymore next to you just because you are in a chopper ? maybe you have to land first, then get out wait till some guy spawns, get back in. but other squadmembers driving an APC,they do not have to get out, there squad spwans in the APC and this is perfectly good ? this must bring real balance to the game

point nr 5 : who is going to control the machine gun ? the third guy, plaese.
And who will drive the tank if the only thing he can do is move slowly over the map and do nothing else ? nowbody. And there will be guys driving there tank somewhere , jump at the turret position and just stay there the whole time, boy, this must bring a lot of extra fun in the game

I agree with #5, I think tank drivers shouldn't get a machinegun...the tanks used in the game dont have them anyway and it's just a feature of 1942 they keep.

Personally I think anyone in an aircraft shouldn't have the benefit of a parachute, given the altitudes they are flying at. That and I hate pilots...

divvying tank positions will never work on a pub server.

Improving IGLA and Stinger tracking should be high priority on next patch, IMHO.

                  /agree on keybinds.

Ok, I think some of my points were explained well enough.

The reason I was discussing about removing the helo spawns is becuase a team can relentlessy position a heavy helo over an enemy's base and keep dropping a virtually-endless supply of squadmates onto it. Granted you can try to take it down, but what about maps like Mashtuur City where there are no SAMs or jets to take down the heavy helo? The helo can also hover at high altitudes, well out of reach of your weapons' effective ranges. Couple with that the fact that helos can move and maneuver quite well, making them strong and fast spawn points. I understand that BF2 is arcade like, but the more you lean toward that, the more you should be playing something like Tribes or UK2k4. Not a flame, just an observation.

About the tanks, if you aren't feeling the division of the driver and gunner, then you haven't been tank camped. I love using tanks, but if I had a teammate as my driver while I'm gunning, I really wouldn't mind. Tanks are already arcade-like due to their ammo loading, control style, even fire control systems. All I we were asking was to split the driver from the gunner. That way a tank can only be effective if it's used as it should--as a team. We weren't asking for a commander's cupola, a range finder position, or anything. Just to split the seats.

put it this way. any FPS that is entirely realism based woudl completely suck. you would get your weapon, run around, get shot by a tank, die, and then game would end since ya know. your dead, and people USUALLY dont respawn in real life. every game has to be arcade-like, otherwise noone would play it. after all its a game, not real life. even so, i think that the stinger suggestion is well warranted, however i cant see any of the others besides the 3d map making any improvment to the gameplay, esp since public play is 90% of the gameplay and public games usually have little teamwork. it would jsut get people to stop playing bf2. overall i think they are good suggestions, jsut not applicable to this game in its current state. it would be good for mods.

get in the gunner position of a vihicle and take the blackhawk down with the machine gun, this takes like 3-4 sec to take the chopper down, but after like 2 sec he will fly off to get repairs

if the chopper is to high to reach, and there are guys jumpin out, meaning they have to fall some distance, you can shoot them out of the air

about the tanks, again, almost nowbody wouyld drive the tank, but just camp the turret position.

For all the ones who like the idea you could not jump out of a chopper or plain, AGAIN
THIS WOULD CAUSE CHOPPER/PLANE WHORES, WHEN YOU DIE WITH THE THING YOU SPAWN WITH THE THING

key remapping is about all they should change.... HALO jumps are part of the game...

the jet spawn and the helo ejection thing im kinda mixed about... what about the chopper gunner? (you allready cant switch between them unless you are on the ground i think) the jet you shouldnt be able to spawn out of at least.....

If you're wanting the helicopter pilots to not be able to bail out, then you'd have to do it for the jet pilots as well, because that wouldn't be fair at all.

As for the 2-man-tanks, that'd ruin what Battlefield has always been known for - arcade gameplay that can easily be picked up and played by almost anyone.
