Whats your guys stance on the AT rocket, do you consider it a n00bish weapon like the m203? Just wondering because i have started to use it more often as i like having the option of taking on armored vehicles as well as infantry. I hate the feeling of having to run/hide when a vehicle comes by whereas with AT rockets i can potentially stop a vehicle from getting behind my team and capturing are flags.Comment

Not really, at least not an increase. It takes time for the less skilled players to pick up on the tactics and abuse them. Ive watched a steady growth of the jump/dive hitbox exploits, noob tube spammers, bh whores, etc. People exploit what gets them the most points for the least amount of work/skill, this is just general human nature, people want it easy.
Im sure this will draw alot of flames, frankly I dont care, you can't argue fact.Comment

In our first match on BF2 we played Karkand for 4 rounds. The other team were ALL using this tactic and we got hammerd.
Fair enough them using it as a tactic to win but it did leave a bad taste in the mouth as we were using skill to try and defeat them and they were just hopping round like bunnys on speed shooting off these damn grenades.Comment

What ***** me off is when you join a squad, you attack a flag with you squad leader who when the **** hits the fan jumps back in his buggy or whatever and leaves the rest of his squad to be overwhelmed by the enemy... thanks pal.. why they are squad leaders ill never knowComment

I generally use the M203/GP30 primarily against soft targets like the jeep, buggy, hummer and others. It is a good deterent for them or at least as good as you can get with the Assault class. Lets face it, without the grenade launcher the Assault would be lacking a good secondary weapon. I don't classify the Smoke Grenade as a viable secondary weapon.
Actually of late I find myself playing the Assault class more and using the AK/M16 in single shot mode to take out people who like to fall and tumble left/right. I have seen that happen so much lately. I guess they figure that you won't be able to hit them. So I just hit the ground and use single shot to take 'em out before they can take aim.Comment

I second the suggestion to make the GP-30/M203 a range activated weapon.
Here in Sweden we use the FNC 80 assault rifle with a M203 attached.
Every guy in the millitary here will at some point learn that a grenade launched by the M203 has to spin a certain ammount of times to activate.
Checking my manual i see that it takes 11 - 19 meters for a grenade to become "Active". (36 - 62 feet)
There are several functions inside the grenade to make it either explode or become a dud.
Here is the complete explaination of how a 40 mm grenade works according to my military manual...

The grenade consist of 23 grammes of hexogen surrounded by 1000 steel pellets including launch charge and the mechanism. (Unfortunately the image is in Swedish thus i cut out the explainations on the image)
Once you pull the trigger of the m203 the gun powder launch the grenade at a velocity of 84 m/s. (275 Feet/s)
Here the complex mechanism start to work it's magic.
The grenade start to spin at approximately 70 turns per second when traveling through the barrel, the centrifugal force move the rotor safety pin thus releasing the rotor.
But at the very same time there is an acceleration safety pin that also release the rotor, this give the grenade extra safety.

There is a autodestruct function inside the grenade that fires once the grenade is launched and the rotor is released.
This is basically a 15 second fuse that will detonate the grenade if it isn't detonated on impact. (Like hitting snow, mud or water for example)
Once the grenade leave the barrel the rotor has begun to spin but is slowed down by two cogweels, this is set to spin slow enough to allow the grenade to travel the 11 - 19 meters it needs.
When the rotor has turned 180 degrees it frees the hammer and when the grenade hits a hard surface it will force the hamme into a igniting capsule that ignite the explosive charge which shoots the steel pellets at an amazing 1,700 m/s. (5,577 feet/s)
If for some reason the grenade hits at an angle (Or snow etc) that doesn't force the hammer into the igniter capsule the fuse will detonate the grenade 15 seconds after launch.
If the grenade hits a target closer than 11 meters a "retardation" safety pin is forced into to rotor thus stopping it from rotating.
Of the rotor didn't turn it's full 180 degrees neither the hammer nor the fuse can detonate the grenade. (The fuse ignites a small charge that force the hammer to ignite the primer, but if the rotor is in the way this will not happen.)
That concludes my comments on the noob tube.
Make the grenades travel 11 - 19 meters before they can detonate.
And if you are hit by a grenade at 11 meters or less you will be hurt but not killed.
I forgot to mention the effective blast radius is 5 meters. (16.4 feet)
And i am sorry for any bad english, im not too good at technical english.

My goals ingame are the following...Originally posted by WarGasmPeople exploit what gets them the most points for the least amount of work/skill, this is just general human nature, people want it easy.
#1 Win the match
#2 Survive (least amount of deaths)
#3 Kill as many of the bastards as I can
#4 Cap as many flags I can
For me, the APC/Tank is the way to go.. It definitely ain't easy, but using the armor sure makes the above goals *easier*. I'm sure people call me a tank whore or whatever when I'm blasting them with a sabot round. :)
I certainly don't call this an exploit though.Comment
