i bought a $800 computer from a decent computer gaming site look it up try spending alittle or looking at the REQUIRMENTS if you can even play the game dont blaim other people because your computer sucks. mine couldnt play but you didnt see me looking at every possible way of running it besides getting a new one. come on your "brain ache" as you call it should have thought up of buying a new computer to run it.

I have been sat at my desk in front of my computer for very nearly 8 hours straight. I have done everything that a non computer nerd like me can do to get the bloody game to work. For a while I thought I had done it, that was until I decided to update. Well that blew it didn't it. I replaced the firmware in my Dvd Rom, I updated all the drivers that I know to update. I updated punkbuster, reinstalled, uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled and reinstalled again. I updated punkbuster, again. I checked my drivers, again. Everything, I did again and again and again. Escuse me Mr EA, but I am not A tecchie. I am just an innocent Lump Head who knows just enough to get by but not enough to be dangerous. I CANNOT GET YOUR GAME TO WORK!!! You are a provider of a service Mr EA, I have paid a lot of money for that service and I expect to get it. I don't expect to have to reprogramme my entire PC just because your publishing dept. has a deadline . . . hold the release, just get it right first time.

So now I think I shall sue you. For neck strain, eye strain, brain ache and RSI. Plus a new moniter and and three broken knuckles. That moniter glass is pretty tough stuff.

I have an adeqaute machine. It ran your demo just fine and dandy. The full game eventually ran when I cracked the "No DVD crack" conundrum, but when your update, thats your UPDATE! Doesn't work, actually worse, causes what was originally working to not to work, thats just careless.

So Mr EA, please expect a letter from my lawyer and the raised inclination of my middle digit. On my left hand, because my right has those three broken knuckles.


*Note: sent to EA support. If anyone knows why this bloomin thing keeps crashing on me (Starts to load, goes to black screen then dumps me out) after everything I have done please let me know. As of now I'm going back to the original install with the the DVD crack that I knew worked and at least get some play out of a game that I thought I liked lots . . . BOOOOO. Ow!*

hey guys . . . it wasn't supposed to be a full on nazi march into EA headquarters, but at least some of you seem to have got the joke . . .

My machine isn't top of the range but it's pretty decent. Radeon 9550 128mb, 1800mhz, 600odd meg of ram (I think. Like I said I'm no tech head). The game runs fine without the patch. Although I can't get ranked because I'm playing a 'modded' Version (Don't know what that means, can't figure out if I 'modded' through the game or because I have a dvd crack). The dvd player is older and cheaper than most I expect, so I have updated the firmware on that. No joy but it still plays without the patch. I update the game and then it all stops working.

With two kids, a missus, and rent to pay for I ain't about to jump in the car and nip down PC World to shell out a grand on a new comp just because someone with very liitle pubic hair didn't get the joke in the first place. It would have been nice to have had some constructive comments, which some of you gave (Thankyou), I do genuenly have a bit of a grievance.

I've read the boards, looked around and tryed my best. I'm scared to go delving too deep into registrys and the like because this is a family machine and I'm not the only one to use it. So I can't **** it up.

So prehaps my joke was slighty misplaced. Thankyou for pointing that out to me by jumping down my throat.

But, just out of interest, is there anyone who knows of a reason or a fix for this problem of mine?

Sounds like your PC has issues, if it just goes to a black screen like that then i would guess its software related ie: problems with your display driver and directx.

If you post a directx report it might be possible to see the problem. Although to be honest it might be easier to reload your pc a fresh then you will probably find hey presto it works fine.

Everyones pc needs a reload every so often.....

Spelling was never my strong point, nor is punctuation.

From reading what I have I think it must be my display drivers or something like that. It's just really odd to go from a working game that was fine and dandy to a patched one that won't even start!

And what about this mod thing? I can't get onto a ranked server because it tells me I'm running a modded version. Am I? I didn't load a mod up or anything ( at least not knowingly). Is it the DVD patch or something else? Is there a setup screen that I have missed?

Damn it. this game is good. But it could have been stellar. I'm gunna keep trying for a bit but I shouldn't be needing to do all this rubbish just to get a game working.

I'd say it's the DVD patch, or the fact that you're running the old version of the game that you're getting the "Modded" problem with servers.

As for the patched version not working, try updating your video-card drivers, that could be the issue. :)

I updated the video drivers. I've updated my DVD firmware. I've messed around with Punk buster. I've done a manual uninstall. I've tryed to do everything that I have read in the forums. I can't believe that I have to go out and upgrade a video card which works prefectly well on the original version. I just don't get it.
