Doesn't matter to me. The eye can only detect 30 fps at best, so 30 FPS works fine for me. Under 20 its time to nerf =|
Dont you think i should be able to run at high

Hey i have a true story on the need the statement that you can't tell a difference above 30 fps. This has nothing to do with my system (although i do run evrything on high with 4xAA, except lighting on medium). Anyways on the fps note, if your into media you realize that you can't import video above 30 or 29.97, and even if you could it wouldn't matter. Anyways back in the olding days,(im 17) *my computer progammer teacher told me this,* they produced movies with roughly 60 fps for advertising purposes. During the movie, as my teacher told it, he would watch movies back then, and then all of a sudden want a coke or popcorn during this movie, and he wasn't neccesarily wanting a coke, but somehow it came into his head, and congress later banned these movies that exceeded 30 fps, because the movies operating at 60 fps were moving so fast that companies would insert pictures to take up a single frame, and visually you wouldn't notice it, but the brain was advanced enough to realize these pictures were there and then you would have the "pic" but wouldn't know where it came from. Anyways wanted to let ya know on the subject that the eye can only detect 30 fps. These type of movies had a name but i forgot. Anyway if you don't believe me, its true.Comment

well - have to REALLY disagreeOriginally posted by big_sammy_bYou won't notice the difference above 30fps anyway weather your at 30fps or 60 - 100 fps it will perform exactly the same its only when it drops to 20fps you notice performance issues.
I play at 30fps per second
after MUCH testing on each and very video variable - to get most eye appeal for the buck
and thought I Had been playing fairly well
then last night, played on my son's system
everything is same , except he has FAR better graphics card and sound card
so, he can run same settings as me and get mostly 80- fps
well. my game playplay went up 1000%
close assault. helo capping. jet aiming. armor aiming
EVERTHING got better
(yes - all settings same in control planel too)
so, i dropped ALL my settings to low
even resolution
WOW - UGLY now
but I get uip to 45fps on my system
and my game play went up about 200%
I know - I am getting better just from experience
but this was toooooooooo dramatic to be just that
IMHO

wellOriginally posted by teh_pwner_of_noobsDoesn't matter to me. The eye can only detect 30 fps at best, so 30 FPS works fine for me. Under 20 its time to nerf =|
technically the eye can easliy detect anything under 60 cycles
not only I have I done extensive testing in the military
here are 2 "civilian" examples
yoy can easliy detect flicker in the light bulbs in europe
they ruin at 50 in thier electricity vs our 60
and most folks can detect screen flicker if refresh is less than 75 on your home PC monitor
try it on a bright (white screen)
this has to do with the chemicals in your eye, how long they work before needing to be 'refreshed'
and there is also a difference between eye being ableto 'sense/detect/ something and actually making an acute observation
we also did some test, just flashing enemy aircrafty silohoeutes on the screeen
we did it WAY shorter in time than a 'portion of a seciongd and the brain has a way of deciphering what it saw
anyway
faster fps are most crucial in close combat
in the multiplayer games
not as much techincal to the eye
but to the interaction between what yousee, vs what your enemy sees, and who gets the apparant credit for the shotComment

Unless you have a poorly optimized system, spyware, or a million other apps/processes running in the background

BravoTwoZeroUK i have the same specs as you except i have 1gb ram. I play at 1152x864x85hz, 4xAA and everything on high except for textures, lighting and shadows. That gives me roughly 40-90fps (usually stays around 70). If i put everything to high my fps drops by about 20-30 and i get stuttering at the beginning of maps. I too will be upgrading to 2 gb of expensive OCZ ram soon but even then i don't think i will play with everything on high.
I dunno if i have really sensitive eyes or what but i found this game doesn't seem totally smooth unless i'm getting 80+ fps. Anything below that and i start to notice a bit of choppiness. And when it goes down to 40-50 i REALLY notice the difference, doesn't feel nearly as smooth. I find that very odd because in most other games i can't notice much of a diff after i get past 50fps. :hmm:Comment
