I dont even understand why some of u guys are arguing... between the shittiest 6800 you can buy and a X800 Pro... the X800 is 100% better, were not talkin about the 6800GT or Ultra, the vanilla crap one.. Get the X800.. the 6800 doesnt even use GDDR3... some pple..

Dont listen to any of these noobs saying get Nvidia, they are just fanboys that dont know better.. This guy is asking should he buy a VANILLA 6800 or a X800 Pro. Its 100% clear that he should go with X800, its core clock and memory clocks are higher, and it uses GDDR3 unlike the shitty old DDR the 6800 sports. Look at the specs of the 6800 he is talkin about before you say anything. And Battlefield1985 has no idea what hes talkin about you would get MUCH more than a 1-2 fps change from those 2.

ok, the X800 and the 6800 are neck-neck. But the ATi is cheaper so it's a better deal unless you really like Doom 3. And why did you (thread starter)compare the X800pro and the 6800, X800pro wins in almost all games (note :not Doom 3), X800Pro is the equivelent to inbetween the 6800 and the 6800GT. And to shotgun, be ready to be flamed, although you said you are not a fanboy, people stick with their judgement of nVidia is better for BF2, and stuff, happens to me all the time when i say ATi has better bang for the buck and stuff.

Granted there are quite a few overpriced ones but when I bought mine when it first came out it was only £175 compareed to £310 for the GT. It was the best performing card per £ that you could get.

Having said that Nvidia for some reason, have reduced the VRAM speed to 600Mhz from 750Mhz which mine has which will have a big impact on it. Mine running at 750Mhz will run games at X800 speeds no problem. Only downside to mine is the 128MB.

BTW. Although the clock speeds are lower the performance is very similar, more efficient core etc. Is the X800XT miles faster than a 6800GT? It runs at a faster core speed.

Oh....the X800pro is £75 more expensive than my card. Thats about ($140)

Yeah, the X800XT is faster than the 6800gt but not by that much, at most 10fps. The equivelent to the 6800GT is the X800XL which have reletively similar clock speeds and have the same amount of pipelines. But i don't get why ATi made the X850 series, because the X850XT is almost the same as the X800XT, only like 20 mhz difference, but it does come in PCI-e which the X800XT does not.

It has 16 pipelines as opposed to the 12 on the vanilla 6800 and the X800PRO, it is better than both, and it's only like 30 bucks more than the X800PRO, plus it comes with a nice cooler (looks like a Arctic Cooler ATi Silencer 5, a bit modified, but does the trick) so ocing will be really easy.

Even cheaper, but not as good cooling, 1 cent more than the X800Pro after 20 dollar rebate. So it's all good, 16 pipes, this thang rocks. I have this card from ATi as opposed to another company. It competes with the 6800GT and somehow beats it in 1280x960 high and 4xaa in BF2, even though they advertise nVidia on the intro. So if yu are willing for a better alternative, look at the X800XL.
