Well the L85 was my first unlock and I have to say it WAS sweet, i could rack up the kills with it, close and mid range sniping,

when my team joined the BF2 league and you can't use global unlocks, i decided that i was going to use the M16 instead of the L85. After practice with the M16 (3 shot burst at close close combat is a pain)
I have now got good with it at all situations and I decided that the M16 is better suited for what i need it for.

so i stick with my trusty M16 :)

The L85 is pretty nice. I unlocked the G3. I found the L85, from when I've picked it up, is a lot easier to aim with the scope and accuracy.

But I still love the G3. It's just an all around awesome weapon. And people who whine that it sucks because it has no nade launcher.. God, I don't know what to say. I guess every other class just sucks because they don't have one either. *feels sorry for them*

L85 is good on long range maps, but up close, nothing matches the m16. it forces you to fire in bursts, thereby lessening both recoil and bullet spread.

M16 is the best weapon in Battlefield 2. there is no comparison.

Not saying in all situations, but in a good number of cases, the L85 can own an M16 user with its single shot mode. M16 users I come up against rely too much on burst fire mode instead of single shot which increases their reticle bloom and if they charge a prone medic L85 user using single shot mode, the M16 user will get owned. The L85 bullet does a bit more damage.

The M16 is a wonderful and balanced weapon in the game, but with that balance produces a lot of arrogance from players in the game. Most tend to use and abuse burst fire mode and don't learn how to use the M16's single fire mode.

I think the first three unlocks for 90% of BF2 players should be the Medic, the SF and the Anti-tank. Simply because those are the positions that they will play 99% of the time on the field and those unlocks increase your advantage on the field.

The other 10% are players that see themselves as snipers, enjoy playing as support or fancy themselves as pilots.

Keep in mind several things when choosing your unlocks...

            - SF will be getting points for destroying assets with the next patch. You might want to play SF then.

            - Unlock the weapons for the kits that you actually play, not the ones you think you might play if you had the unlock. You might not once it's unlocked.

The great thing about weapon unlocks is that they are good no matter what army you are fighting in. So when you get stuck on the USMC/MEC/Chineese side - when you prefer one over the other - you will still be using the same rifle/gun so it won't matter as much.

I'm of the opinion that the M4 is a better gun personally.

I'll take the G3 over the M16 any day. In close to medium range, all things being equal, the G3 will always come out on top.

The M16 is far from the best assault weapon in BF2.

i don't feel that the assault g3 is very accurate. i don't like it from what i have experienced so far.

I'm torn between the Medic and the Spec Ops one... Although the Assault I heard is good too, they need to make it so you can unlock anyone you want at each Rank/Point interval so you can decide by testing you don't like it you lock it back up and choose another one... I made the mistake of unlocking the Sniper rifle

It's a fun little gun, but there does seems to be so many people in the medic class.
Of course the funny thing is was when ever I die there are never any medics.

I would probably unlock the AT class or Support class weapons next.

I've played them all and prefer the G36. It's the best at all ranges -- great in CQB and very controlable for sniping at the very edge of fog distance. You have to fire in short bursts and I've got it down to 2-3 shorts per burst. I've had situations where my opponent is trying to hit me, I can hear his rounds impacting all around me, and I simply hit the mouse a couple of times and he's dead.

I liked the medic unlock, untill I found out that it goes through the clips, faster than a dick through paris hilton.

G3 RULES loved it in BHD/TS and love in this game

I play almost always as medic and I don't see the big furore over the L85. Its useless in full auto and if you learn to use the M16 and AK in single shot mode it isnt noticeably more accurate.

                                It also feels just weedy.

My fav gun has gotta be the G36, or the M4. They are just beautiful guns. Wonderful on single shot and retain a tight burst on auto.

The G3 is strong but isnt as accurate as the M16 or the AK.
