I like the SVD because as soon as you take a shot you know whether or not you need to aim higher, lower, over, etc. without droping out of your scope. They do need to address the problems however.

I never try to snipe that far, i find it easier and more successful to go for closer range targets. my longest kill was 1s1k at about 270, with a screenie for proof :) but i rarely go for that distance.

Maybe this misconception is why ive only been headshot by another sniper once.

At 300 m a sniperround should not drop 1 full head heigh. Ok to build in gravity but then give us the tool to correct the influence of gravity for instance an adjustable scope...

With the M203 i can kill very easily at distance. With the sniperrifle in this game its like a lottery.

All snipers saying they like it in this game aim somewhere above a target an hope for much luck with each shot. Give the snipers or the snipers wannabees some good hardware so they also stick with the game. They will return to other games if it is not patched...

I usually only play on 16player Kubra Dam usually, when i snipe, i go from the US starting CP, then i snipe all the way to the MEC starting CP, that's pretty far i think, and it's really annoying when the bullets miss, you always have to do the bolt action thingy. So the enemy sniper knows where you are, but you don't know where they are, i've killed like 10 snipers on the other side of the map, i never looked at the distance of flag, but it sure is pretty far, snipers look really small from there, I also snipe other people trying to get the lower dam outpost, but mostly i just play as spec ops on Kubra Dam, much more rewarding.

It doesnt happen...its a myth...the bullets dont drop at aany range.

Aiming above there head probably works because the texels are sampled from a different position to the bullet ray cast...or something...so the pixel your aiming at doesnt acutally display the players head but the bullet hits them.

Or maybe the bullet raycasts are more precise than the rendering engine...so you hit something that the graphics engine isnt displaying...

Anyway...if you think aiming high works...good for you.

Its not me who is suggesting to aim high - i just gave answer to the statement that bullets drop in game at this distance.

My unlock was the m95 - not to go on sniping. I only use it when i am killed by a sniper hiding in far distance (allthough i think the m24 is as good as the m95 or better said as bad as). The other weapons suit me fine - i do not need extra unlocks.

It is total crap that you need to hit someone twice (for instance in the chest) with a m95 round. I guess one round in my chest will stop me from hitting my keyboard... It should be a one shot one kill (chest and head).
Sometimes i have the luck to get a headshot - but as said its luck...

I just wonder if anyone knows if EA/Dice plan to patch this at all? I like how the rifle makes noise. That is fair. Bolt action makes it fair. Shite accuracy and lower than needed damage are NOT fun!

NO NO NO, they should not have some uber unrealistic zoom, bad idea. The breathing is cool though, but if they add breathing they need to make the ballistics more realistic.

doesnt matter much for me anyways, ive given up the ghillie suit and found im much better at spec ops in this game. I'll have to wait for op flash 2 for some good realistic sniper action.

I wish they gave you a better scope and a laser range finder, as well as adding more damage. Sniping has been overnerfed IMO.

The m24 has half the deviation (I think that's 4x as accurate?), a much better crosshair, and the same damage - IMHO the m24 is better for everything except taking potshots at helicopters .

DICE balanced snipers the wrong way - it should be hard to aim, not hard to hit where you aimed .

I find the M95 range markers pretty accurate.

I was sniping dudes at 500m on Kubra Dam (from the crane over the dam to the northernmost flag) and used the first mark - remember to account for recoil.

Too bad you can't see much more than 200-250m on most maps.

its silly they have to "balance" the guns rofl.... same as balancing classes in mmorpgs, the best thing is not really to have classes, OR, to make things realistic. Realism is the ultimate balance.

The people who are hating on snipers here should really give the class a try for a couple of rounds, say just long enough to get your sniper badge (10 kills in one round). You'll find that playing a sniper doesn't have to involve sitting on your arse waiting endlessly for target opportunities. Playing an active sniper can be a lot of fun; keeping just behind your squad mates covering them when they assault and taking out enemies who camp or fire from behind cover. If nothing else you'll figure out a few of the choicer sniping spots on the maps so the next time you get sniped you'll have a better idea where to look.
