On my BDU's (Air Force) i have, Rank on the arms, Name above the right chest pocket, US Air Force above the left pocket, my MAJCOM on the right pocket, and unit on the left pocket. Above the US Air Force tag is my Specialty Badge (what job i do)

there are other patches that are authorized but depends on the unit where they go, ie. Honor Guard have a patch above the name tape in addition to the usual patches on the BDU shirt.

Also with the ropes... mine was black :) (Drill team at Keesler AFB)

But the only badges we have in the Air Force are just for your AFSC (job) we have at most 3 on the uniform. The bottom most being your current job. and the other 2 just AFSC's that you had in the past.

*AFSC = Air Force Specialty Code

ie. Mine is 2E251 2E2X1 being my job (Computer Networks, Cryptographic and Switching Systems) X is equal to your proficiency level. 1 trainee 3 apprentice 5 journeyman 7 ... not to sure.. but 9 is Superintendant.

Probably more info than you cared for so i'll stop now :)

very interesting. didn't realize that USAF and regular infantry BDU's differed so much. forgot to mention the name patch, too hehe

Too many people care too much about having their ranks, medals, ribbons etc. on display... That means when someone joins a server it would have to query the stats server, so it knew what to do to their uniform to show their current awards correctly etc. That's going to place a huge strain on the stats servers and stuff, and is just useless fluff.

What kind of soldier would wear his freakin medals during a firefight?! Not gonna happen.
