Flanking. Not just a good military tactic...

but works very well ingame also. I've knifed so many people going around them and attacking from the side. They are so busy with the frontline troops they dont know whats coming from the sides.

hard to do as a team player (especially when part of a large squad). but lone wolfs can do it I guess. I prefer team play, however.

Huh? Having the fire support, med, resupply, etc of a squad while performing a flanking push harder? Hell, I find it much easier to push a flank with a squad in support than on my lonesome.

I will say that what amazes me is that an a 64 player Karkand map, maybe 58 people afighting on the main road....2 guys sneak off for the commander assets and 4 USMC guys wisely travel down a side road. Flanking or simply taking a different route works wonders!!

Yeah, i love those things. Its the best trick for any game: TO BE SMART. Seriously, u can get many point almost just thinking a little more than ur opponents. A few days ago i remember i was flying the Cobra and one Shilka (dunno if its the name of that aa tank) started to shoot at me, so i went to hide behind a mountain which was just on the left of him, flanked and owned that guy from his back (The guy was still looking at the side where i first hided without moving... lets say he was pretty dumb). I personally love those kind of things.

              FYI : its a Tunguska

And there are plenty of "sneaky" things that you can do that are actually quite simple that allow you to gain an advantage over the enemy.

Even if your on the frontline at karkand in a 64 player server you can still be "sneaky." On the far right side, there are usually a few people, on the USMC side, but if you can shoot the few that are there, and then run to take cover by that burned out APC, you can hide there and take potshots at the billions of USMC that are on the left side. Its really simple, and it can net you a bunch of kills, as well as mess with the USMC machine guns and grenade launchers. It won't take too long for you to get figured out, but in those few minutes you can get enough kills to make it easily worth it. Be an engineer and lay some mines where the enemy vehicles won't expect it, bring a sniper rifle and get some headshots, bring a machine gun and just lay done the fire. Plenty of ways to mess with the USMC.

Dude take the whole squad to flank a base or where the main action is at. It is most definatly teamplay. Knifing them is also smart because the enemy doesnt hear or see gunshots. Flanking is probably the best and easiest way to dominate .

heh. yeah, I know. but that is not what he was/is talking about. he's talking about sneaking up on a flank and knifing people, at least as I read it.

As a 25+ year student of military history, I am well aware of the viability of a well-conducted flanking manuver. on a squad level in BF2, all the more effective, of course. but check out the OP: he's a sniper. so, I drew all of those conclusions form the available words in the text of the post and his favorite class. get it?

I was responding to his apparent "flank to secretly knife" post, that's all.

Its a great tactic for a lone wolf type of player...
but i also like the squad tactics more so...

But if a squad is attacking and one guy goes around and gets the bad guys, FINE!!!
even better... but as we all know, it never works that way... Lone wolfers are ussually not team players...

I really enjoy squad and team play much more then lone wolf play...

                    but thats just me.

Well I do it almost all the time I’m a lone wolf..
I totally prefer being in a squad, but if my clan mates aren’t on or I can’t find a good squad, I stay as a lone wolf, flank, rack up some points and totally disrupt the enemy, or get killed at every turn…

Works well for me, hadn't really put much thought into flanking until I played Brothers in Arms. Its Fire & Assault teams showed how to do it effectively. I usually wait until my squad is laying down some fire and am already waiting off to the side, the other guys are returning fire & I come in from behind & clean up. Nice 1 !

Flanking is a good tactic in combat! It has been used through the ages and is still used now.

Flanking works 75% of the time if you are a lone wolf or with one friend. but a whole squad that is'nt team work oriented? Naah i dont think so.
I have yet to eaven slightly consider BF2 a teamwork game because i dont see any teamwork on the servers i play... And i am confined to Norwegian, english and german servers. Our swedish servers suck!

I love it when 5 - 6 guys all camp on a roof without any backup... Thats when i sneak up and gut them and throw them off the roof!
