I was just lookin at them, and most of them require over 2000 hours of play, and one of them you need 3000 hours as commander, 2000 as squad leader, 2000 as squad member. I dunno about you guys, but if I ever play this game for 7000 hours...somethings wrong.

BF1942 demo date around 9/2002. That's almost 3 years ago, and at last check I still believe people actually play this game. Games like UT99, Quake3, MOHAA, etc.. all still have large and loyal groups of players, and hundreds of servers to play on.
I'm glad the requirements will take so long. If we all had every freaking badge 6 months in, where would all of the badge/ribbon talk go ?????Comment

I agree with both of you.. I think ranks should and medals shold be there for people who play waay too much like all those 2000 hour medals. But for the people like me who play but not all the time I'd like inbetweeb medals it's just they are asking way to much. Especially with ranks.. I've played the game since it came out and I'm only at 3,500 points. and I know if I played all the time I could get the next rank, but that is waay to high at 10,500 then at 25k ? I mean that's way to much.Comment

Calm down. Everyone has their opinion and I stated mine. Then to get the vehicle medals thats another 1000 hours EACH. I played 5h since i got the game (more then a week ago, but lets round things up) because..well, i have a wife, job, kids, the whole package
5h/week --> 7.000h = 1.400 weeks = 27 years of game lolComment

I played this game for 85 hours now and face it, thats allmost longer than i played GTA SA and thats a big game with a lot to do too.
normal games you play about 20 to 40 hours.
Only online and rts games you can play longer.
if you play 2 hours daily , every day of the year, you play 728 hours a year.
You'd have to play amost ten years to get 7000 in total.
concidering you have a social life, two hours daily, every day is still pretty much.
I don't think many people play this game (intensively) longer than 1 year. and definatily not 2 hours a day, only clanmembers and BF fanatics (you and me
).
Sure people try out mods and such, bf1942 got played long because of DC, but mods won't up your BF2 stats, so they don't count.
Medals should be easier i think, especially since it's a game for the masses, and the masses should be the main point of atention for BF2.Comment

Who will really play this game for years though?
I know I won't.
I know most casual gamers will have moved on to other games (UT2k7 etc).
I know most of you lot will move on to mods etc thus not get the medals.
A year to a year and a half should be the expected lifetime of this game before people move on. Not 3-4. :/
Then again EA might just give up support for the game as they have found a new cash cow.Comment
