I think they could leave it almost the way it is. Give the killer minus points to force engineers and snipers to use the mines and claymores correctly. Then, give the team member minus DOUBLE the points that the killer loses to encourage him/her to be more careful.
Teammates running over mines!! FIX IT EA!!!

It's been said.. read the thread. If you can't play using all the elements of the game, then don't. I've never hit a friendly mine. I'm careful and I play the game as gracefully as I can. But, that's not the issue here. Were talking about how to make it fair for a community. My post sums up my thoughts. If you want to learn to set a mine, join the Army. If you want to enjoy the game, watch what you're doing and avoid servers that duche-jugs like slim play in.Comment

So leave an opening. I agree that it sux that you get team kill deductions, but you can't have a whole map full of mines. There has to be balance. If the dood that hits your mine looses more points that you... he has a reason not to do it again. A dog knows when it's been kicked.Comment

To the OP, I hope you weren't relying on team chat to get your point across. It's so hard to read, scrolls by so fast amid the swamp of kills, and is hard to pay attention to amid the high-paced action of BF2. Maybe if you're a commander, with yellow chat text, and you type in all-caps, maybe, just maybe people will notice.
Unless you meant VOIP. But not everyone hears you then necessarily.Comment
