That really is a stupid comment. Sorry but it is. It does not matter how cleverly you plant mines team mates run over them. Try playing engineer for a few rounds and using mines and then come back and tell us how your clever planting prevented TK's.

I do agree some engineers mine their team mates into a base with no route out for vehicles which is wrong but I never do this and still get constant TK's againt me for mines. I leave paths for my own team mates who should be able to use them due to the visable warning signs. I never find myself running over friendly mines so it is easy enough to manage.

Seriously, mines are the best way to prevent APCS and tanks from getting into your base - but how the hell can you ever use em when your teammates keep blowing themselves up and punishing you?

Dice has added skulls and mine markers but they do no good. The ENG class is the best defensive player in the game - or WOULD BE if he got some cooperation.

I think Dice should just admit defeat and turn off mine damage to friendly vehicles in game becuase right now the ENG class is seriously crippled and it has been that way since 1942. If you cant actually USE the tools of the class it makes it worthless.

Anyone else here agree DICE/EA should turn off mine damage for friendlys? I think so. It's not real but it's not fair to those of us who like to play as ENG's to always be held responsible for IDIOT teammates whose object of the game is to run around in go karts from flag to flag as fast as possible without regard to whats around them
It's even worse than that. I was terrorizing the other team with mines, they couldnt move their equipment when and where they wanted to effectively.

So guess what happened? One of them switches teams to my team and proceeds to go hunting down my mines and punishing me into oblivion.

I dont agree with making friendly vehicles impervious to team mines. I would aggree with making the skull and bones warning icon show up sooner and increasing the size of the red domes marking friendly mines.

I think they should stay exactly how they are but if a friendly runs over a friendly mine then nothing happens. Just like when you walk over them.

Blanket statements are usualy wrong, as this one is. You over generalized the problem.
Lol the above is a "blanket statement" and my advice on mine use is correct, mines should never be used in a manner that prevents either side from moving past a fixed location. Mobility is very important in this game, immobilising your team with a static defense is usually the key to defeat.

You still don't get it. If people are CONSTANTLY running over you mines, then you are putting them in the wrong places. The key to winning in this game is to have a mobile attacking force, if you team is being impeded by your mines to the point that they are constantly running over them, then YOU are placing them incorrectly.

The display of the skull symbol is very buggy especially for the Z axis (up and down for the people in the cheap seats) Many times I have had people climb up a ladder where I have placed claymores to protect my back while sniping. To here my clanmate on teamspeak saying ... "there wasn't even a warning symbol to be see when I was climbing the ladder". And mine symbols are also buggy depending on your system specs as well.

Maybe that is something else that needs to be looked into as well.

I encountered land mines ahead and end up in a stop, then wait to assist with the person who laid them down (Team Work). That is if the person who laid them down, did not leave off else where. I have been boxed in, go around or have to take another route. I have slowed down, and never get TK's anymore, like I used to on the first weeks after game was realeased. Had only one TK last night (A week later), and was totally my fault. Ran over person and by surprise, I didn't get a punish. But when it is their fault, I get punished. Go figure..

I have to agree. It is not that hard a job to just avoid the mine/claymore whatever. I myself did this a time or two and have learned my lesson for sure. Even the first time, after realizing what I did, I did not punish him for this. I seen the stuff, just didn't think I would set it off. I learned from my mistake. I love playing the engineer kit as of lately and the only problem is I dont want to set the mines due to getting punished for a team player making a mistake and hitting them.

In theory, to bad theres alot of dumbasses that are corporals. As for the mine issue yeah it sucks but if you turn off mine tks then you might as well turn off all tks. Didn't they say the new patch will change the way tks will work? As for you engineers, the next time I see one of you mine the entire exit of a base not leaving enough space for me to get out I'm charging it with a jeep.

Mines are highly visable and as long as you leave routes for team mates through them then it is the person who drives over them at fault. There is of course crest of the hill placement that is a little dodgy as it is possible for a team mate not to see the mines in time to stop in such circumstances but most TK's I see from mines are not due to this type of placement. In fact most TK's the mines are in extremely obvious places with routes all around them.

If I plant mines and decided the threat I planted them against is no longer valid I pick them up again and move on.

Something to keep in mind is often well placed mines become badly places mines when a base changes owership. With the Blackhawk capping flags all over the place this happens quite often and there is not always chance to pick them up again.

YOU are all kinds of retarded. Both team's vehicles tend to drive over the same roads, do they not? How do you lay down a mine that your team doesn't have a chance to run over, and the enemy is sure to? The only answer I came up with is to drop them in the enemy's uncap point. Please, enlighten me as to your solution...

You made a blanket statement, admit it. It's not a big deal.

You said," If people are constantly running over your mines, you are the one at fault, not them. You don't understand how to use mines properly. "

You do not know Selecter, you dont know how he uses mines. You made an unfounded assumption and stereotyped Selecter.

You are however correct in the fact that mines should never be used in a manner which prevents team movement.

I cant speak for Selecter, but I never fully block a road with mines. I never place mines on a rise where they cant be seen by team vehicles coming up or going down a grade. When I place mines I always text that I have placed them, and 99% of the time I even state the location.

I assure you I take every precaution with the exception of standing on top of the mines and warding off team vehicles. I dont think its a wise move, or a mine layers responsibility.

Fkwits still run over my mines for a few reasons already stated in this thread. The biggest reason is the speed of some vehicles versus the warning icon showing up with 2 seconds for the driver to react.

Take a few adolescent morons who think the world owes them, a few adult morons who never grew out of the above, add in a few punishing grievers, and an occasional person switching teams to hit your balls with a hammer. The end result is a class being continualy hammered for doing a valuable team service. Funny thing is, these punishers are usualy the same aholes who are all to glad when you repair their tank 5 minutes later.

I aggree that an engineer who fully mines an area of the map as to obstruct team travel should be punished into the ground. But I have rarely seen anyone stupid enough to do this, thank god.

The skull and crossbones for C4 needs to be changed or perhaps dropped altogether. How is one meant to determine from a vehicle which is which without getting out - as I often have to? If it's C4 the spec ops has to control the detonation. If he detonates when his own men are there he deserves the TK. Why do others on his team have to see a big skull and crossbones?

Dude you are so wrong. The people running over the mines are the idiots. If you are paying attention to the road you can see the mines clear as day. Not only do you get a big red skull and cross bones but you can also see them graphicaly on the road. Where would you suggest placing mines? If you are trying to defend a flag how would you go about defending it if you were an engineer? I'm really interested in hearing your stradegy because you seem to be an expert. I can bet you that it doesnt matter where you set the mines, some lame noob is going to run over them and get pwnd and you're going to be the one to suffer when they punish you.

AT mines and C4 definitely need different symbols so that we can easily and quickly distinguish between them. I have run over mines several times thinking I was driving over C4 (of course I did not punish the Engineer!).

                                Keep polishing Dice!
