Yes, TS or Vent are better than VOIP but our clan uses both (TS/VOIP). The squad uses VOIP to talk to each other and we use TS for the commander and group talk.

Using TS for squads would suck because it would limit your ability to juggle squad spawns during a scrim/match. Use both and you get the best of both worlds.

I think both TS and Voip in game suck. Use Ventrillo its the best!

we use teamspeak, vent uses to much resorces but is still better than the BF2 VOIP. when you been in a squad for a long time budd you will understand that teamspeak isn't just a lobby but squads have there own TS server and so on.

The TS codecs are crap compared to Vent. Much higher voice quality possible via ventrilo.

No doubt. But if you want the ability to move from SQ to SQ during a match depending on the situation, TS doesn't allow for that kind of dynamic SQ change in the voice communications. You would have to ALT+TAB and change your channel and then go back into the game. So it is not as flexible as the in game VOIP for SQ communications.

So unless someone has an overlay program that allows for channel changes in TS/Vent in game, I still say it is a combo.

But hey, keep doing what you are doing. It will give my team an edge.

I think experienced players are just used to TS/vertrilo. The in game voip is much better suited for the gameplay!

Maybe they could enhance it a bit but seeing who is talking helps a ton. The quality is fine to me.

One thing it can't do that TS can is run my preferred setup. I run ts with just TS audio going to my earpiece and game sounds out speakers. I always can clearly hear voices that way. In voip it can't be redirected like that.

For bf2, a few more modes would fill in nicely:

                    - a key to talk "local" meaning to all others near you. Good for vehicles or passing by someone in diff squad.
                    - key for squad to squad so they can work together perhaps.
                    - key for all team
                    - have at least all team or maybe all game work when in loading screens
