    Greetings

I like the comments about "you need brains to be sniper" and "its not the gun its you" malarky like I'm some sort of nub pfft.

Like I said before one hit with that m95 cannon on the torso your gone no question.

The sniper is very weak up close if he's spotted and the enemy give the sniper spotted shout its game over they come swarming looking for u or all start shooting in ur direction.

All because the target you should have cut in half with the bullit you just fired jumped up and down looking around til he spotted you and grassed your where abouts to the whole world lol.

Ive had stationary targets and blasted them 5 times dead on they dont even move and the gun still either missed or isnt effecting them then they run off.

Now for the amount of work you have to put in for the sniper like get to a good position usually right beside the enemy all without being seen then hit them from that distance if your lucky all while watching your back and waiting for ammo which dosent last long the amount of shots it takes to kill.

And someone said the sniper kits fine lol.

I can hit enemies easier with the assault rifle and from same distances than any of the sniper rifles and it reloads quicker.

The kit should be 5 claymores and ability to retrieve and reuse them, along with a better working gun with zoom lense. The grenades should be scrapped just the knife and silienced pistol and more bullits.

The autosniper rifle should also be scrapped.

Oh and I dont even play as sniper very much I specialize as Spec ops but I have an old snipe now and again, the spec ops standard gun is better than the m95 lol.

Sort it out you know the gun sucks and needs fixed and believe me it wont turn into snipersville the game will get better.

another thing...the unlockable barrett...does allittle more damage...less accurate.....hrmm if you unlock it, it shouldnt be less accurate..yes, i know sniper grade .50 is near-non existent on the battlefield (lapua makes it i believe, or make your own, but who wants to make a .50 grainge/ballistics chart...awful long time to make) but anyway..its a bolt action Barrett, they kill people from 1500m, why cant i hit someone in the head from a few hundred....and also, laying down snipers, if you shoot them... .308, .50, whatever, the bullet should kill if it goes through head/shoulders down into and out of teh stomach

7.62x54r is hardier than a .308 (not m118 sniper ammo army uses) not quite sure of grainage diff...but they should be allittle less accurate, since its technically not a sniper, but "made to increase teh range of your average rifle squad"

5 claymores? jesus christ, 1 clay covers teh stomach area, and thats about all anyone carries? 2 is enough, it would be nice if you could use the detonator, since proximity caps(cant recollect name of the cap, or exact workings) were all but abandoned in vietnam

anyone else think the c4 explosion is allittle pansy? im sayin each block is about 10-15 pounds....the explosion looks about 2-3 pounds...

The power of the sniper rifles has been discussed to death, most people seem to agree its unrealistic but balanced.

As for anyone who is trying to blame the game engine because they cant hit enemies...i have no problems at any range. Appart from a *few* odd moments that could be due to strange arrangements of collision box, the gun is accurate. There is no bullet drop and very little deviation. M24 is easier to use but i think thats because of the thicker reticle.

Sniper class is fine as it is. Make it too good and too much of the team go sniper meaning the whole game will grind to halt.

It should be remember that it is not the snipers that make the game but the guys running around fighting and capping flags.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy playing sniper but understand really it is just when I fancy having some personal fun and often I am not much use to my team. Yes you help a bit as sniper but the same player being assault instead would be far more use to the team.

As for power it is fine as is. I get lots of 1 shot kills you just need to be patient and not take your shot until the enemy stop and you can get a head shot. The last thing you should do is fire constantly at lots of moving targets as then they know there is a sniper and are unlikely to stand still for you to get that head shot. Also when you have been in a spot for 2 or 3 kills you should be looking to relocate as one of those 2 or 3 kills no doubt is going to try and track you down.

Barret is weak for the caliber yes but Glaken is right patience is something needed as a sniper a class I play almost exclusively... I take 2 -5 kills then move had an awsome game earlier today 15 straight kills and the poor sniper I was killing finally realized that as long as he kept setting up in the windo of the construction sight I was going to pin him. Sniper are useless upclose unless they can come in from behind with the knife which can be done by and by but not often.

                Stop posting stuff like this.
This is who I am reminded of:

Especially near the last panel: Th3_Sn1per is a good analogy to most people I see in Public servers.

On a game like Battlefield 2, on a 32 player server. 1 or 2 snipers is ALL you need...not 20. Make a kit overpowered and everyone will jump to that kit, creating such an imbalance, and bringing the fun factor way down. It was bad enough in the beginning when there was nothing but medic's and spec ops.

EDIT: I forgot one thing...if you take off the red tags for the sniper, you should take it off for ALL classes.

Unfortunately unlocks can't be more powerfull, or those who play more will be even more powerfull giving noobs less of a chance than they already have so they are just different weapons, they should just have put a different rifle in instead of a psuedo uber rifle that really ... is a joke.

dont know why people say snipers arent useful...i protect the flags alot more than many other players do. I mean actually sit and defend a flag rather than capture - move - capture - move etc etc cultivating capture points.

Plus we can identify things at greater ranges...yet we get no points or recognition for recon.

                          I completely agree.

The sniper class is underpowered. I recently got my first ever unlock. Thinking because i almost lways play as a Sniper (sometimes as a back up Spec Ops), i chose the M95 as my unlock weapon. BIG MISTAKE. Its worse than every other sniper rifle in the game. Well atleast thats what i have experienced so far. So i basically think im going to juts use the M24, Type 88 and Dragunov. SCREW THE M95.

All the sniper rifles should be one hit kills for anything in the torso area. SO what if Assault classes have body armor, as if that is going to do anything to stop a snipers bullet heading for the chest/throat area.

So now i guess unless theres a way for me to rechoose my unlock, its going to be a long haul till i can get a G36C for my Spec Op.

No prob Lerithion. Vgcats is my favorite online comic. Make sure to check out a recent one. It's all about Battlefield 2 :

But anyways, back to the topic. I hope you weren't talking to me Tenshi...I didn't say sniping wasn't useful...I just said that it isn't necessary to have more than 1 or 2 snipers to a team.

OK, no, and no, the sniper rifles are not fine. Hell, the game is not fine..

You have to look at ALL of the forces working against someone who's actually operating within' the fashion of a sniper detached with the givin' camo in BF2; that's Recon for all of you slow people.

                                1. Your rifle is OUTRAGEOUSLY innaccurate. M4's have EQUAL engagement distance, and a bit more accuracy in terms of, well.. everything.

                                2. You're located easily, heck, it's pointless to have Camo because 9 times outa' 10 a commander is going to drop a UAV right above your skull and give away your position. I really think EA could have put a bit more thought into this... A sniper should ONLY be visible to UAV, not the scanner. So.. basically, a sniper's camo is worthless.

..so, what does that leave us with so far? Oh!? A 22.LR Rifle with a Scope? Camo that's all but worthless... ok, I'll keep going.

3.) I'd just like to throw this in; the damage of the sniper rifles is JUST FINE! The damage shouldn't matter, heck, I wouldn't care if the Sniper Rifles did 1-Damage to the Torso, I aim for the head and ONLY shoot at stationary targets... Every sniper's goal should be the skull, even in the field, hitting someone with a 7.62x54r in the body armor DOES NOT entitle you to a kill. Modern body armor has evolved, and this game simulates this well (Although, really, they coulda' skipped the M95 and put in a Dakota T76 Longbow (.338) or somthing, a .50 cal round that doesn't kill a human target in one hit is insane.) ...but, heck, all of this is thrown completely outa' the window when you sit back and think about one little think; " THE FRIGGIN' HIT DETECTION IS STILL BROKEN! "....wow, puts it all into perspective eh?

...thought your headshot was a direct hit? Think again, the game NEVER registered the connection. Regardless of the fact you'r standing over the individual you're shooting at.

Is there anything else to add? Oh! Yeah!

                                4. Random Deviation? ...oh, cmon' EA, really... I mean, damn. This was just stupid from the get-go, makes ya' wonder how a bunch of college-grads. sit around a table and come up with somthing as stupid as this.

Yeah, well, those four forces wheigh HEAVILY on sniping, but, the damage is extremely balanced. Not realistic, but balanced. So, number 3 is very debateable. But, when it comes down to it, the rest needs to be looked into. And quickly.

Oh, and to the chap' who said it's the shooter? You're wrong. Every last one of you, dead wrong.
