I have played spec ops a lot...in fact I think I have nearly 50 hours playing as spec ops...don't know haven't looked in a while lol. Ok two things, one about the explosives badge...I had all the badges but that one until recently when I got it, and I didn't do any kamakazi crashes into tanks...I got it from defending. The C4 is powerful and unless you can get rearmed a lot, use it only when you need it. As of right now, dont bother blowing up the enemy commanders UAV or artillary or anything, you don't get any points for it and unless the enemy commander is blowing you to heck with artillary, its not worth wasting time on them. Wait till the next patch, supposibly they fix that and you get some points. What I do, is when I capture a point, I put c4 all around the flag. I put it in places where normally people would not look, such as in grass, on walls near other objects, etc. I got my explosives badge this way. Basically I put them there, walked off, when the point was nuetralized, I knew someone was there and boom, got X amount of kills. you can also sit there and wait for them to come, and watch as they fly through the air. The one thing you have to realize about spec ops is that they are not like normal infantry. Their guns, except for the MEC's one, and even the g36c are weak in comparason to the other guns. I've gotten more points and kills sometimes by NOT killing somone when i see them, and rather choose to use stealth and go in. Using the silenced beretta is smart too, because if you are in a good position and there is only one guy, they never know where the fire came from because they cant hear it or see a muzzle flash. Just remember the spec ops are not wearing body armor, and are more about stealth than charging in. If you want to charge, be an assualt...thus the name If you want any more advice or some of my tricks I use, feel free to ask...I would post my stats to prove I know what I am talking about since I see those banners on some people's names, but I have no idea where to get those so...just going to have to take my word for it :p

If you're looking to take out arty (no points, but maybe they'll fix that in the upcoming patch, like another user said), you can take out two at a time. Just place two packs between them, it is useless on some maps, though. Not many realize this, it is very useful.

I have to disagree. Although you don't get points for it, it really helps your team. I normally don't bother to destroy the artillery unless it's on the way to the radar and UAV. The radar and UAV are my priority. If I can deny the enemy commander the use of these two, he is flying blind (so to speak). He has no way to know where to effectively launch Arty strikes.

On maps where both these assets are close together, I will often nominate myself to keep them offline for the whole round. Some people get satisfaction in being at the top of the leaderboard. I get satisfaction in helping my team.

ok well ive had really good success lately with this tactic (60+ points a game) Utilizing the scope type thing on the spec ops gun and the laser dot. i jsut find a nice concealed spot and pick off the enemy quite easily. also planting c4 at flags youve captured works well

Well, yes it is hard to see baddies without radar or uav, but if you right click on the map in the commander screen, you can zoom in, then do it again to zoom in to real life, you can still see soldiers, i do this on populated points like the hotel on karkand. Plus you get more precision.

make sure to use your M4 properly. I usually sit with my rifle on single shot. Just be fast on the mouse. Full Auto is only truly effective in close quarters.

Here's a good tip for you.

Say your are hiding in a building, and an enemy soldier is passing-by, and you feel as if you will miss the shot, don't take the shot. Shooting once, missing, and giving away your position is not good. He may have more fire power than you, and you are open to attack.
So don't give away your position if you feel you will be putting yourself in danger.

ok....i've been loving the spec ops role as well. the question that I have is that when one plants c4, leaves the area of the planted c4, and once the spawn point goes neutral, all one has to do is bring up the detonator from anywhere on the map, squeeze the detonator, and the charges will go off?

Also, when deploying more than the normal 5 bags of c4, for example, say ten c4 bags, when the dentonator is squeezed, all ten will explode? Haven't tried it but once, and didn't get the opportunity to blow ten bags of c4, as i got capped.......ideas or answers? thanks,

It can be quite good fun to try and play SO as real as you can, i.e. sneaking around out of sight and avoiding the big firefights. I enjoyed a couple of rounds on Dragon Valley where all I did was set up a roadside bomb or two and went to lie under a tree until a customer turned up. Once I was out of bombs I just sneaked around in cover and spotted stuff for the rest of the team, capping the odd flag if it wasn't defended.

Not the way to score big points if you're intent on promotion but quite a relaxing way to play, I read a book between occasional bouts of action and only died twice - when I broke the firefight rule and couldn't resist breaking cover. Doing the same on another map also meant I had time to really get the lie of the land and I found a good ambush site, using which I got my Basic SO badge, so the laid back approach can pay dividends.
