Squad ideas straight from EA. Please try them out PLEASE!!!

    Assault Squad: 2 Anti-tank, 2 Assault , 1 Medic, 1 Support.

This squad is designed for capturing a control point. While the support soldier lays down suppressive fire and provides ammo for the rest of the squad, the anti-tank troops can take out defensive positions and vehicles.

This allows the assault troops to flank the enemy and approach the flagpole.

    Vehicle Squad:1 Anti-tank, 1 Assault, 2 engineer, 1 Medic, 1 Support.

Use this squad when using to vehicles, whether it be tank and an APC or even a couple of jeeps. By having an Engineer in each vehicle, the two vehicles can repair one another while they are close together.

Any of the drivers except for the assault and anti-tank, because they need to dismount to add additional firepower when engaging the enemy. This squad can also use a single transport helicopter.

Place the Engineers in the positions where they can use their kit weapons, then they can select their wrenches and repair on the fly.

      Defensive Squad: 2 Anti-tank , 2 Assault, 1 Engineer.

This squad is intended for defending a control point against an enemy attack. A medic and support soldier are absent. A supply crate provided by the commander can provide healing and ammo, allowing for more firepower to use again enemy assaults.

The Engineer should place mines near access points enemy vehicles can use.

Recon Squad: 1 Sniper, 1 Support.

This is a small squad whose purpose is to avoid the enemy as much as possible, and instead observe and report the enemy's action and positions.

The sniper should be the squad leader because the sniper rifle's scope provides a long-range view you can use for setting targets for artillery strikes.

The support soldier's job is to cover the sniper's flanks and rear and provide ammo as needed. By keeping this squad small, it is less likely to be detected then a squad of six.

          Anti-Vehicle Squad: 2 Anti-tank, 1 Support.

This is another small squad whose main objective is to engage enemy vehicles. It should find a position overlooking a bottleneck on the map such as a bridge or road where you expect alot of enemy activity.

With two anti-tank soldiers, you can take out a tank or several lighter vehicles. The support soldiers is there to load them with anti-tank missiles.

Because the missiles leave a smoke trail leading to your position, move after every shot or two, or you can expect a competent enemy to call i an artillery strike on you or shoot at your position.

Rading Squad: 2-3 maybe 4 Special Forces.

None of the previous squads list special forces as members. This is because you should use this troop's kit for special tasks behind enemy lines.

For any other role there is another kit that works better. Raiding squads can deploy by air--drooping from aircraft by parachute or by light jeep. The key is to get to their targets quckly and avoid combat.

Raid squads should target bridges, artillery, and support structures where their C4 is most useful. Vehicles also make great targets. If they need more ammo or explosives, a supply crate is better then dragging along a support soldier.

After destroying the structures, the raiding squad can either move to another target, or hide and wait to take out Engineers sent to repair the damage.

Nice ideas, but one other question. What class should the squad leader play and where in line should they be in formation.

                Anybody?
                Anybody?
                Bueller?

Agree. Some great tactical tips but finding squads capable of working together like that certainly won't be easy. This is where clan-based teams working together will gain experience. The point-award system is the main thing that destroys these tactics though on general servers - too many play for persoanl gain only and too few for the team win in my (albeit rather short) experience of playing in random servers.

A battle between two experienced clans employing such tactics though would surely be a great battle to behold.

Yeh, that squad thing is from the Prima official strategy Guide. But as you say, unless you have VOIP or intelligent members, and your squad arent a little bunch of immature boys, its very rare to see or be in a squad with tactics like those.
If you are starting a squad, i find it useful to call it something like "Mics Only", that way we can all talk as a squad and figure things out. Once or twice I got a really co-operative squad with mics and we trashe dthe opposition.
I think the game has very good teamplay elements. its just those playing the game failing to take advantage of them.

Just a few minutes ago I was playing a game on Sharqi and there must have been two full capacity squads working together, moving together and everything...it was mostly medics but still, even though they were enemies I was pretty impressed.

The Rest sound good except for the one I quoted Below, I would say two snipers, because it usually takes about two bullets to kill someone and with two snipers you could coordinate your attack and take out as many people as you can.

Im not even in a clan for bf2, yet. But have been in DC. But all of the above, is why i myself, find clan battles, more rewarding, and enjoyable. Sure pubbing is great fun. But untill you have been in a clan battle, where both clans have held practices, for the upcomming battle...........you havnt really played yet.
Its certainly excitting, and nerve racking. And......the fun...just unexplainable.
