    Xfire killing my fps...

i've been having fps problems recently with bf2, i couldnt understand why so good one day, terrible the next, i thought about it for awhile and realised my game plays great when im playing on my own with xfire off, but when playing with a friend with xfire on my fps is terrible.

i decided to do a test, 64 players on a karkand only ranked server, i played 4 rounds with xfire off, great fps.

alt tabbed and turned xfire on, gave a few secs to loadup etc, went back to game, my fps had plummeted, it was stuttery too, xfire seems to be causing this drastic drop in my fps, anyone else find this? :hmm:

Was in game chat turned on or off when you had xfire on?

If in game chat was on, that's why you were getting the fps drop.

do you mean the popup windows that appear when playing with a message from your buddy or sumit?

would that cause it? the fps drop was massive, not just a few frames.. :hmm:

I use xfire with bf2 frequently and do not have any problems.

XFire just lags in general. Makes my system run like crap, and makes windows take 3 seconds to maxamise. Soon as I turn it off, all goes back to normal. I have noticed some ActiveX errors lately, so i'm wondering if this is related...

Since XFire is a java app, it might be you need to update to the latest JRE.

xfire KILLS bf2 framerates. on my rig, i ran actual fraps benchmarks with xfire on. 80+ w/o xfire, 40 with it.

You are not good with computers. Try paying someone to do a fresh install of Windows XP Pro.
