Best kit as commander... Your opinion

A friend and I were talking about this a few days ago, and we had two totally different opinions on this.

He beleived that a sniper was the best way to go, as you could place multiple claymores on each artillery/radar/shack etc. in order to deter people from blowing them up. Just place a supply crate somewhere nearby and re-arm when needed. Plus, he said, you could always hide and snipe people that come to blow the stuff up if you have no claymores left.

My stance was that an engineer was the best way to go, because you don't have to waste precious supply crates on fixing those pieces, and you could place landmines all around the area to deter Spec Ops people from coming in vehicles to blow the stuff up. My belief is that people on your own team rarely ever drive around the artillery, shack or radar, so TK would be at a minimum. Plus if the going gets tough, the shotgun is more handier than a sniper rifle/pistol for up close work.

So what do you guys think? Is sniper a good kit to choose as a commander or do you think engineer is? Or perhaps do you think that a different kit is better than these two?

Ok, i have a couple of opinions on this, if you're a medic, arty strikes near you might damage you, so you can heal yourself. But that's not going to happen often. Another one is sniper, you're reletively more hidden if you're in a good grassy hiding spot, and the claymores do wonders for defending your stuff, engy so you can repair and mine around your stuff. And Spec Ops so the enemy commander can't spot you and tell his teamates to get you.

Special Ops used to be really popular because you wouldn't show up when the other commander does a scan. However, just staying under cover will save you from arty.

I'm going to have to say Engineer as well. You can repair your own assets if you need to, as well as being able to mine the major entrance to your base.

I think sniper is the way to go. drop as supply crate and claymore the whole place and run onto a hill and do you commander crap. One goes off and start sniping them. If your an engineer you can protect the assets from foot soldiers (you wont we in a vehicle when placing c4) and you have a less likely chance of killing the enemy (this deters them from comming back).

Engineer, since most ******* teammates won't repair your own things, you have to do it yourself.

Sniper would be a good choice if it werent for the fact that you wont actually kill the sprinting hopping around maniacally spec ops guy with the piece of **** sniper rifles in this game until hes long blown up your artillery...engineer is definitely the best kit for commander, if you dont feel like wasting a supply crate you can go and repair your own stuff, since its a very small chance that any other teammate will do it for you.

Engy for me. Short range pwnage added to ability to fix assets is the go.

Depends on the map, I most often don't move around when I'm commander (the worst are the commanders that still think they can fly aircraft or assault choppers). If it's one of those maps where the enemy can capture the main base headquarters I'd often go Assault to take care of rouge base cappers, sometimes spec-ops to lay a trap for would be cappers. Otherwise I'd go engineer and roll along in a tank if I can.
