I FINALLY got high speed internet!!

After a very long wait, I've finally got high speed internet. I thought it wouldn't be possible since I live 10 miles from the nearest town, but my phone company has the dsl distribution hubs all over our rural are. It's cheap too. $60 for 256K, local phone service, 350 minutes of long distance, and voice mail, caller ID, blah, blah, blah.

I'm am now able to play BF2 the way it is meant to be played; online and against other people. My only problem is that with my connection speed, it lags on 32 player servers I'm pretty sure I can get a 512 connection, but my parents aren't probably gonna want to pay more for it, cuz they never use it, so why should they have to pay for something that they never use.

$60 per....month? In the uk we can get a (admittedly unstable) 2meg connection for the equivalent of $9p.m. A quality connection would cost just under double that- still much less.

1 meg for 49.95 a month here....Hopefully i'll be getting DSL within the week....

I get 3 Meg for $30 a month; but he does live in a rural area. Man I get Bf2 connection problems with 3 Meg, I'd hate to try and play with 256k.

10 Mbps Broadband here (constantly get 4-5 Mbps which is very good) for only $45 per month. A router also helps to squeeze as much internet bandwidth as possible.

your being ripped off man, I use aol (NO i dont use the software it all goes through a router) for £22 pounds a month (i think) ive got unlimited 1mb broadband.

Well guys, it is my only option. Either this or Direcway Besides, witht he bundle for $60, my family is actually paying less per month on our phone with the DSL. The only time I get severe connection problems is when someone else is using the internet on a different computer.

I really wish we could get faster internet. Maybe once we've had this connection for a while, I can talk to my dad about getting 512k instead.

Oh, just to add, if it wasn't for my discovering that our phone company offered this, I'd be paying $60 per month for JUST the 256K. (using WiMAX) Normally my phone bill is close to $100, cuz of a lot of long distance. But with 350 minutes of long distance, it should be adequete enough for me.

That is nothing guys. I live in rural Paola, Kansas, and I pay $89.99 a month for 1800kbs/600upload, and thanks to Motorola's slow asses on developing firmware to handle that. I am only getting 600kbs/200upload, and my ISP [Midwest Connections] never calls me back, or gives any kind of updates.. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. SBC is laying Fiber Optic Cable in my front yard as we speak, and will be taking subscriptions Aug 1! So I have sweet, sweet, 30mbps to look forward to!
