The issue for me and several that I know is having to build a new machine to play. I've completely milked my 1.8 mhz machine with x800pro/ 1 gig 333. This is the first game that just laughs at my machine. The amazing thing for me is how brilliantly scalable the code is implemented. The low/med graphics play smoothly enough to trick you into thinking your machine is handling the game, but the physics kick the crap out of your cpu so you don't play competitively. Many of what people refer to as bugs, (server browser aside) aren't bugs at all just low cpu performance that doesnt show up as graphics lag. This game will only get bigger.

It is bad coding. My PC is very much capable of running this game on high witohut any FPS issues.

CS-S and HL games in general are daycare centers for adolescents and people with subpar gaming systems.

Stats are nice since I would like to know my progress as a "soldier". A unlock throws some varity here and there. However, i'm here for the competition aspects (thank you CAL League for adding this to the lists). No FPS game, imho, is that fun without some serious competition somewhere =)

Does anyone think that current events may crush the bf2 community? I know personally ive been playing alot more CS:Source and HL2: DM just because it works and is fast to get in and out.

I don't think so..the game is just now a month old and problems I've been faced with has been few and far between. I can agree with you on playing more on Steam, it is a better set-up...but it's going to be a long time before I go Back to CS:S and HL2M. Those games are good, but they get old very quickly and I'm waiting for DOD:S anyways. BF2 is one of the best FPS I've played in awhile and I highly doubt the community is going to suffer because some people got to play with unlocked weapons. The game is only going to get better with mods and expansion coming soon. Just relax people.. the game is still new and these bugs will go away soon.

Like someone said, every game has it`s lifespan, but with all the updates and releases I doubt CS is going to be gone anytime soon. As for BF2, who knows what`s in the future...
