but swat 4 doesnt have stats, and is a totaly different game, and being less popular your bound to find an empty server. Its unfair to compare the games.

If your only objective is to play a game you can ALWAYS get on and one that people cannot whore on... just stick to minesweeper?

Could care less about stats when there are so many stats padders out there exploiting it.
I have also been playing Hlaf-Life 2 DM online as well. No stats there...but plenty of people.

BF2 is blowing chunks right now since there is only ONE game mode and its getting old pretty damned quick. If the next patch were to add some variety, then it might be worth spending the bazillion hours needed for ranking.

There are OTHER games out there and I continue to play'em.

And BTW...SWAT 4 isn't "less popular", just a different breed of gamer, i.e., more intuned to REALISM which BF2 does not have.

tbh youve lost me there... you say its not less popular because its a different breed of game? i.. i fail to understand what you mean

when i say BF2 is more popular i mean because more people play it, for longer each day.

bf2 was played for 64,038,955 minutes today, where as swat 4 wasnt even in the top 10... thats just fact.

so well i just really dont understand what you meant...

        can you explain or...?

Starcraft came out in 1998...... 7 years ago..... and it still has a cult following. Bottom line... Nothing lasts forever, the only constant in the universe is change.
BF2, despite all it's minor imperfections, is an amazing game. One that will inevitably keep me busy for a long time to come.

I have to admit that those days when it is difficult staying on a server for more than 5mins without the connection dropping or Punk BUster is being a punk itself I just give up and depending on my mood fire up some other game (yes, even CS:Source)...

To be honest I an grateful for the bugs in a twisted way, for without them I probably would not play anything else until I got totally sick of thegame...

yeah, BF2 is loads of fun for me and my team mates. no game is bug-free or problem free. however, we have a blast everynight with it, win, lose, or draw. Stats are fun when you know you earned them honestly. the stat padders are losers who suffer from character flaws. I am sure they have even greater problems in real life.

I don't have time for crappy games (wife, kids, job). So, I don't play crappy games. I am playing alot of BF2.

                  'Nuff said.

yes, and when you cheat and stat pad, like yourself, it saves the stats so everyone knows you cheat. Amazing isn't it.

every game has its cycles, people come, people go, people return, etc etc. As bugs are removed, gameplay is improved things will get better. I think the big test of time will be how the competitive scene fairs, this is what kept games like quake2 ctf/ra going for so long.

I play bf2 and cs:source. CS is a nice tension reliever after bf2 nails me with a crash, a mysterious disconnect, an indadvertant TKBAN, or just plain frustration from playing with complete idiots.

On the CS servers I play, most people are known quantities, cheaters are voted off in less than a round, and most people play pretty good. The only downside is that it is still CS, lol.

The issue for me and several that I know is having to build a new machine to play. I've completely milked my 1.8 mhz machine with x800pro/ 1 gig 333. This is the first game that just laughs at my machine. The amazing thing for me is how brilliantly scalable the code is implemented. The low/med graphics play smoothly enough to trick you into thinking your machine is handling the game, but the physics kick the crap out of your cpu so you don't play competitively. Many of what people refer to as bugs, (server browser aside) aren't bugs at all just low cpu performance that doesnt show up as graphics lag. This game will only get bigger.
