Just ordered from newegg:

Biostar Intel p4 prescott/celeron mobo w/ 800/533 mhz FSB and PCI-E slots
Intel p4 prescott 3.0 ghz 800 FSB processor
Powercolor radeon X700 256 mb, PCI-e, 128 bit, 8 pipes
Aspire dreamer-x case, w/ 420w PS and 2 80 mm fans
1 Gb corsair valueselect DDR 400 memory, dual channel

total cost was 496 and I will use existing HD and CD ROM drive.

My question is about the power supply and cooling. Am I going to need something more than 420W for that system? and will I need more than just the two 80mm fans to keep it cool.

Also, the case has a front display with temperature on it, what is a typical safe zone for the temp inside the case?

A case is just as important as your main rig, if you are sticking for now with air cool I have this http://www.thermaltake.com/xaserCase/xaser3/v2000a.htm note 7 fans with dust covers, lots of bays for drives etc, nice lighting bla bla bla. works fine in Africa but also, it leaves plenty room for moding as well. lots of neet cases in link.
I'm soon going to fit water cool inside it.

Note 7 case fans + other hardware cooling = lots of noise
The thermaltake connectors can be buggers to fit loose pins etc
Some cards hard to fit in back slots
But you get all the above issues and more with any case.

Yeah, I dont want unnecessary fans that will make more noise, but I dont want to overheat either.

For a PresHOTT, you need a case that will keep the temperatures below 35*C inside the case. The core temp on the CPU will be 40-70*C depending.

I have a P4 3.4Ghz in w/Artic Cooling Freezer7, in a X-Navigator and my case temps are around 30*C max, core is 40-60*C.

I have the X-Dreamer as well.

Nice case, i got the silver one.

The LCD display was dead when i got mine, but i emailed them and the sent me a new one. Even told me how to install it, i never did though. But they seemed to be pretty good in customer relations.

This is supposed to be an upgrade but on a budget. I put in room to grow (max 4gb ram, PCI-e). Eventually I will get a matching set of the corsair too.

I havent really seen the X700 included in a benchmark, how does it stackup?

Matthab has the X700 pro, this is what he said:

Yeh the x700 is a good card, with the specs i have it plays at medium bearing in mind its 128mb, but its the pro so its quicker than the normal 256mb editions but hasnt got the graphics capaicty.

The FPS are brilliant on it in medium its well worth buying.

I'm buying my new comp to play this game... I have a 8-year old compaq, and well it sucks... even though the comp im getting isnt great, up from this pile-o-crap anything is great. I need 150$ more for the comp in my sig.
