Gunners for choppers, but none for tanks?

You do all understand he's simply talking about third gunner to man the forward most machine gun right?

It makes perfect sense to me. It would almost REQUIRE that more than one person man up in a tank, if it wants to stand a chance of survivng against Infantry and Choppers, but, a tank would still have its primary gun in the command of the driver, so, there wouldn't be anything taken away from the Driver's Anti-Armor abilities.

...I just wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page with this. I support the idea, it's a bit more realistic and would prevent a good deal of the "Tank Whore'in" going on... which would be the ULTIMATE blessing.

Being gunner on a tank is the most pointless position of the game, well, apart from sniper.

For a start the tank flys around like its in a washing machine. Then you have that, oh so annoying 'lag' when firing the gun. You fire, and its impossible to actaully aim it because it feels like its on a grid with very large points.

The gun is weak and inacurate.

      Lastly, you die very quickly.

I say, if it makes the tank more powerful by allowing one guy to concentrate on nagivating tight areas or avoiding enemy fire while the other guy pounds enemy vehicles, then leave it how it is.

If it makes it only as powerful as the communication and teamwork of the 2/ guys using it, and becomes more or less a sitting duck if either of them die or leave then I'm all for seperate gunners and drivers.

I'm just afraid the first thing will happen.

              PICS. NOW.

That's the point he's getting at; that'd be a good feature and make tank crews have to work much better together.

And I soppose the HELI Transport, HUMVEE, DUNE BUGIE drivers are just shitting there pants cause they cant get deticated kills. Not everyone has has your Loner mentality and love playing there role as a team mate, and if being a just a driver to help your team out ever more could be added on tank, I see nothing wrong with that.

Lately I notice that for some people it seems that BF2 is nothing more than DM and that your team mates are nothing more than Blue dots on the map that you dont get points for killing.

First of all I want to say that as a mod this would be great. However, I do NOT want to see it implemented in the regular game. Maybe clan matches would make this great, but its hard enough trying to get anyone to work together on pubs, which is where the majority of the playing happens. ynxyg, you said that lately this just seems like DM, so how does making something require even more teamwork fix this? The anwser is it doesn't. Now instead of having one person fight with one other person over a tank, you will have one GROUP of people fighting another GROUP of people over which group is better at driving the tank, leaving the people who hop on pubs an hour here or there, or maybe only weekends, out in the cold. I've seen too much fighting over transport copters as it is, and if this is implemented in normal gameplay the same will happen to tanks.

I was playing in the tank and a guy jumped in and then joined my squad. Using VOip he was calling out enemies for me "APC 6 o'clock" left and right. With the slow spin of the main gun I never wasted time looking for an enemy, I always knew exactly where the next one was with him as my gunner. Then in the big fire fighters with armor he would duck in and out to spot for me still. Doing this we managed to stay alive for the majority of the round and rack up some serious points, and with only minimal repairs too.

The tank gunner has a vital role, its just not quite as offensive as say the coptor's gunners.

Yeah, will be awesome to have 3 people to control a tank instead of 1. Have to rotate the turret watching out for who is closing in on my tail, while I am trying to drive forward. That is for the gunner to rotate turret, and fire.
