Well, here they are, hope you like them :)

These drivers are based on the Cat 5.7 and they include a customized version of ATI Tray Tools instead of Radlinker. Go to the ATI Radeon section and take a look at the readme while downloading so you know the latest changes and additions to this set.

I have a x300 and I play with the drivers it came with great on medium.

Should I download this 3rd party driver? I mean would it be better?!

Your driver is over a year old, so just using latest regular Catalyst and you see improvement.

Thw Omegadrivers aren't about getter more FPS primarly or getting good results in artificial benchmarks, they are meant to give you more choices in tweaks, options and resolutions and overall quaility.

Remember to unistall drivers AND ATI control panel BEFORE installing newer drivers.

Preferbly doing it this was:

1) uninstall drivers and ATI Control Panel from Add/Remove Control Panel in Windows.

2) Reboot and boot into Safe Mode, F8 just before Windows boot.

3) Click cancel to any plug&play hardware wizards that informs you of new hardware.

4) Use http://drivercleaner.net and remove relevant ATI files.

5) Reboot and start Windows normally, again cancel to any plug&play hardware wizards that informs you of new hardware.

6) Install drivers of choice, with its installer. Reboot.

Then you only have one driver set installed and only one to cause problems. I do this everytime I install video drivers.

I don't see any improvment with BF2 at all, shadows still look bad, and I still can't run Texture above Medium without lag. Also when I check the version, it says 5.6, not 5.7 but I am positive I got the 5.7 Drivers. Oh well, hopefully 5.8 will fix something.

I have a X300 128mb with year old drivers and I don't seem to have any bugs?? I mean everything is fine in the game. I play on medium and I get great fps and everything is the way it should be? It goes on high but like you, I have a bit of lag while playing. Playable but not as enjoyable as medium. + Barely any difference!

Make sure that you download the correct ones, the mirror at NGO lists it so you might be tempted to download an earlier version, it has v2.6.53 in the filename. Some ppl report the same thing about wrong driver version in the thread at DH though.

I just corrected the topic title, it said 2.5.53, where it should be 2.6.53, there is an error in orginal post at DH.

These are tweaked drivers, so you won't see major difference between regular cats and omegas, like specific game fixed. It is meant for you to have more options and tweaks added plus more reolutions etc.

The filename on mine is "rad_w2kxp_omega_2653_7z" so I would guess I got the correct version.

Yea he made an error but so the old version number is listed but it is 5.7 though, justt wrong numbering, he corrected it and made new available, also mentioned on his main page.

Well anyway...

I did all the instructions that you said and I have those Omega drivers installed now.
I haven't played bf2 yet but so far there seems to be a problem... I think it has to do with the screen resolution and I don't know which one to do. I didn't write down the old resolution number...

Anyway some things seem to be smaller? Like the bottom toolbar and the top "topbar" like the X and -- buttons at the upper right seem to be about 2x smaller then usual. So...A way to fix or?

Oh and the icons the the desktop seem to be the same except the font is smaller. Same in the bottom toolbar I think.

Anyway--Any ideas?!

Oni have you tried using different resolutions??

Usually a laptop will have a native resolution where it operates the best, it is most like the higest you can use. It is probably also listed in your documentation for your Dell, which it is.

If you select different themes in Windows font sizes can also differ, have you tried look at the Display options, under Appearence tab, not sure if it is called that i English XP though, there you can change font size and effects etc, not sure if that is what you are looking for though.

Well actually I just restarted and well....It looks exactly the same!

Pulled my hair out for weeks with 2 of my machines, trying to get BF2
to stop stuttering.. it was BADDD.. unplayable.. both my ATI9800Pro/256
and my X800/XL/256 stuttered....

UNTIL....

I installed the newest omega drivers.. 2.6.2 (i think..) last night..
now neither machine stutters at all.. and both run awesome maxed out.

I did use the driver cleaner program you used also..uninstalling any ATI
references before installing the omegas.. worked fine.
