We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
I also like to place mines on the apex's of corners. Right were friendlies Can see them, and enemy probably wont. (and probably rolling @ a high rate of speed.)
I like the "lockin the tank" idea, but Tks are just so damn ramapnt...
wow, great ENGie thoughts all. nice! I love being an ENGie, but the mines/PTKs is brutal. maybe after the 1.03 patch it will be less hazzardous being an ENGie. :)
Hello everyone, finally on the forum, been playing way too much.
Just a tip that has worked for me---- place mines around the flag you spawn at and then just move on to take the next flag. I have made it a habit and it pays off every time. Dudes come in fast in the jeep and just dont see them in time. It works best for flags that are out in the open. For the ones inside buildings and such, mine off any area a vehicle could stop and take the flag. It is always pleasing to be on the other side of the map and get a free flag defend due to unwatchfull enemies! Also it almost never results in a team kill unless the enemy takes the flag with infantry and does not set off the mines. They will disapear soon after you respawn and throwing your first mine speeds it up.
This is rather obvious, but here goes for nothing... People are driving on the right side of the road on most parts of the world in real life... they do so in this game also. Keep this in mind when placing mines on the road.
Great thread, and thanks for the tips. They sound so reasonable and useful until I try them, lol. I just need more practice. A tank full of engies is super-duper!
TTopi, I have to disagree. Although real people do tend to drive on the right side, I found that placing mines square in the middle of the road is more effective. The reason being, if folks do pick a side, at least one of their tires/treads will still hit the mine. If they are like most of my AT Mine victims, they just see a nice flat road and want to go fast. :)
Also, a tip I've found is that when there is NO way to hide the mines, (ie light colored pavement) then you place them in a nice visible and impassable line. Friendlies will see them and avoid them somehow, but all vehicles, or their Engy escorts will have to stop for the line. Thats when you prone from some good cover at medium range, and shoot them down with the pistol.
I do have one questions though. Does it seem unfair to anyone else that the shotgun isn't a guaranteed close range kill? My thinking is if I spend all the time and effort of getting that close to you, it should be a 1 hit kill. Perhaps I've just been playing too much DC.

I've added the shotgun damage chart to the first post. If you're certain of a headshot I'd try to take it as it'll most likely lay him flat.
Don't forget to tea-bag him while he's on the ground moaning for a medic. I'm not sure why this seems to be an engineer trait but it is. (thanks to leadwall for the reference)

Most roads are indeed very narrow, so placing mines in the middle makes sense. There are wider roads also, so my advice isn't all that bad.

Most players have body armor, that's the reason. Aim for head or legs. So many times I've shot people square in the back and all they do is jump/turn and gun me down... Medics and SpecOps are most vulnerable, if you get so close you might actually hit anything. Shotgun is underpowered, I agree on that.
yeah, there are some great tips in this thread. if there is an ENG god, the patch will resolve the TK/AT mines issue (perhaps eliminated the TK penalty altogether for this), and I bet the ENG is a strong class like it should be. :)
