No worries man. I've unlocked both the G3 - Assault and the L85A1 - Medic. I've found the G3 to be decent, only giving an advantage in Medium-Long range combat, and falling short in close combat due to the 20 round magazine, because of which, you will find yourself scrambling to reload at bad times and in firefights. The G3 also is not equipped with a grenade launcher like the GP-30 or the M203, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on preference. I have found the L85A1 a great improvement over the default medic assault rifles, though some argue on this point. It excels at medium range combat, but can hold it's own in close quarters and to a degree, long range. An important thing to remember with this gun is to fire in bursts, and not hold down the trigger and spray, or you won't hit much.

Thx dude, i think ill go for the L8 as i usually fight at mid range and use 2, 3 shoots burst. The main thing i dont like about the m16 its that u cannot swith to full automatic which would be very useful in close combat and u can always fire busts manually if u want...

Ok ill try some more games with the L85A1 then. But its in-accuracy just so annoys me. I get unlucky in games when i spawn close to an enemy, i unload a few bursts into him. Die, spawn again, and get killed by the same enemy!!!!
Really annoying =]

whats this gun yall are talking about now, the SF?
personaly I'm not liking the l8 up to this point. Hopefully I'll get used to it so I dont have to make another account and gain another 1,000 points to unlock a gun I will like.
I wish I would have tried out ALL the unlockable guns in the 1.0 version in sp. sucks now u cant do it in latest patch.

Just thought I'd toss in my 2 cents. I mostly play a medic (and tend to be in the front lines) and have found the L85A1 to be a great upgrade from the default M16, once you get used to it. I was really frustrated with it at first, but kept using it and getting used to its quirks, and now I really really like it.
As others have mentioned the scope is excellent for single fire (though 3 round burst also helps), I've gotten plenty of headshots, and even had a sniper tell me I was doing great helping him out. With the scope in any urban environment you can easily play a sniper/medic since you are generally close enough to your targets to easily pick them off with the scope. In my experience I tend to aim a little low when shooting with the scope.
Close in you have to keep control of the gun. I've found that crouching and dropping prone and taking a second to line up my burst I can usually take out my target.
The full-auto is only useful for supression. You are lucky if you hit anything with full auto at any distance. I've emptied entire clips at point blank and only just barely took out the target (Though full auto at the back of the head is pretty fun). Provided your enemy responds to suppression (they aren't just an idiot rusher) they will take cover with all the rounds you can quickly dump into an area.
Overall the gun is the huge step-up. If you are a combat (front-line medic) then you now have a weap with decent firepower that you can actually hold your own with some cover. With controlled fire and the size of the clip you can usually last in a firefight. At first I thought medics were screwed by not having any armor, but now I think EA/Dice did the right thing. If medics had armor, the L8, nades, and med packs, they would be un-stopable.

The gun is very nice, you have to get used to it though. While it does seem like a bb gun, it`s pretty deadly when using a scope and single shot....
