Capturing a flag does not remove tickets, does it? (unless you get to the point where total cap points reduces enemy tickets)
Killing someone does reduce the enemy tickets. And so defending or capturing, which ever gets you more kills (not points) is helping your team more.

small point: killing them only reduces their points by one when they repsawn, being revived wont drain any points.

i would think that the constant bleeding of tickets (which occurs when u have a certain # of flags) would be pretty detrimental to the other team. this, compounded with defending the flag (which usually consists of killing others), will reduce the enemy tickets at a pretty good clip.

The people that think that points are everything are the biggest problem with this game. Thats why theres no teamwork because everyone is thinking about themselves. It IS better to defend because the more you hold the faster the other teams tickets drop. THATS what the REAL goal is.

You got the messages right (enough). While it does say "point" you actually get 2 team points added to your score when you neutralize a flag. Go try it.Originally posted by MitchNeautralizing is one point.
"You have received a neutralization point!"
"You have received points for capturing the flag!"
Something along those lines. But neutralizing is one... right?

It also does depend on the current situation just like what someone said here earlier. It also depends on your play style. In some cases it is better to defend and in some cases it is better to take CPs. Just make sure your team is balanced in those actions. BTW I'm new here.

I love defending flags as SpecOps.
Just drop 2 or 3 C4s around the flag (make sure two are somewhat close together, if the enemy rolls up in a tank)
find a place to hide on/around a building. in a building works great when arty can't get ya.
wait for them to walk/drive up, blast em. The tricky part is whether or not your commander will resupply you. You can get tanks/cars/infantry all at once.
it is really effective and helpful for your team if you're down to 1 or 2 spawnpoints, and the enemy is continually trying to cap those. 1 person can defend a flag while the rest of the team tries to cap the enemy's.

Given that most players prefer attack over defense, and that most players are attracted to flags, defense has its advantages. But I would only defend if I expected the enemy to attack in short time. The southwest flag in Dragon Valley is one of those areas where you can predict an assault, so defending it can be quite point-productive.

I'm pretty sure it's:
2 points for a neutralize, 1 point for a neutralize assist.
2 points for a capture, 1 point for capture assist.
Anyway, someone mentioned the problem being people playing for points reduces teamwork. Well, here's my idea, see what you think:
Currently I see no real, specific incentive to win a round. Yes, there is an incentive to kill/heal/blow-up etc. as best as you can, which will have the effect of helping to win the round. But, a lot of people don't care about the team actually taking the round as long as they themselves just get a good K/D ratio going. So, if you are the only one on your team posting good numbers, but your team still loses.. well, no big whoop.
So, how about if the players on the winning team got a bonus to their global score? I think this would encourage teamwork immensely. Lets say everyone on the winning team got 20 extra teamwork points added to whatever points they managed to rack up during the course of the round. I think this would have a great effect on causing people to co-ordinate more, follow orders better and focus more on trying to complete important objectives rather than just running to where they see enemies and trying to take out as many as possible.
Now, the main problem I would think would be people jumping sides at the last minute on servers with no auto balance, so some sort of a time limit would have to be factored in. Possibly, if you switch sides you at any time during the round, you are restricted form receiving those extra points. That wouldn't be fair on auto balance server where people get switched automatically, where they were on a winning team and get switched, so they lose those extra points. But, nothings perfect.
