Everything on max except I have lighting and shadows on medium, resolution is 1280x768 6xAA , on my 3.2e0 @ 4.4ghz (vapochill LS, pC Ice modded) , 2gb corsair ddr550 1:1 [3-4-4-7], HIS x850xt pe, runs very smooth.

I have an almost identical setup same mobo, same memory (but 1gb), and it uses a BFG 6800 ultra, clocked at 4.8ghz on a mach II gt (baker block, bowman regassed) unit, pulls around -94c under load, and it runs a little better on that one.

oh btw, Im "Exempt" at xtremeresources.com, 75thRanger in game.

I have done extensive testing on fps
and the effects of different values
(vs visual pleasing to the eye)
I can play HIGHEST on everything
and still get 30fps (which is MINIMUM imho)
for long range play (armor, sniper)
and I shoot for better than 60-fps for in close combat
      rest of system is:
3.2gP4, 1.5 Mb Ram, and audiogy 2z sound
      ATI x800 XL w/ 256 ram

      so, results =
      1600 x 1200
      (little visual difference over 1280 x 960)
      so, use the lower
      6X aa - little effect over 4aa
fps jumps from 60 to 80 if I drop to 2aa
and the only effect is on the small lines far away
      (power lines, fencese, etc)
no real effect on game play
and a BIG impact is (more than 20fps)
      "shadows"
yes, the look "cool", but have no effect on game play
      and
I turn off dynamic lighting - no effect on game play

      even tried 800 x 600 with 6aa
looks great - like HALO in Xbox
but kind of soft - loses details
      ran over 100fps

      all using catalyst 5.7
      no system tweaking

      hope this helps

      ps
btw, this is all on my son's system
I have SAME except no sound card (embedded)
and use ATI x300 w/128mb ram
      I play on 1024 x 768
      no aa, shadows, dynamic lighting
      other settings on high

both systems use 100 for range

I only get 40fps (and looks like an ATARI )
so HUGE, HUGE HUGE diference with top grade video card ! ! !

excuse me?! lower?! i lower nothing :) in all honesty i run at 1280x1024 (max for my lcd) with everything on high. and 2xAA.. whats wierd is i run it at other resolutions as well like 1024x768 and i get like a 5fps improvment..i still run at around 40+ fps though.

Look at you all with your fast AMD64s and 1.5GB low latency Rams etc etc. Some of us have to make do with XP 2700s 768MB PC2700 and Geforce 6800s.

Lucky things. I have most on medium but terrain/effects/filtering on low. Runs smooth but the terrain setting spoils it a bit. I do recommend sacrificing Terrain for AA tho.

I love when people post threads like this. It always turns into a "mines bigger than yours" war :)
I had to lower my terrain detail down to low because I've only got 512MB RAM but everything else is on medium. With a rig like yours you should have everything on high!
Do a virus scan, scan for spyware, tweak your services, get TweakXP, defrag your hard drive. Here's that really good tweak guide for BF2 on IGN that walks you through all of these steps.

I agree with the second post, something must be wrong with his rig i have the same processor, video card and ram, but i can run it on 1280x1024, everything high and 2x AA perfectly smooth. Now keep in mind that your connection to the internet is very possibly a very limiting factor in what you can play it smoothly at while online
