which settings do you lower?

which settings do you lower, and which do you raise to make your game run well/look good at the same time.

i have a A64 3200+
and a 6800GT
and 1.5GB ram
but i cant run it well on all medium. imean its def playable but its only like 40-50FPS or so

AMD64 3200+
1G ram and a 6800gt and runs sweet on high
