I'd think that a Spec Ops could easily take you out from a distance.

a few days ago I went out to get the Basic Repair Badge (or whatever it's called)

And I got MASSIVE points as the engineer. I'm talkin 60+ pts, on 8v8 size 16 map several rouns in a row. And in CQB the MEC shotgun is a friggin' slaughter machine

Of course they could. But, most of the time, he knows the Spec Ops are coming... the Spec Ops don't know he's there. That's a huge advantage.

Anyway SPARTACUS, kudos to you! This game would be made so much better if we had more people taking up needed roles like this on pub servers, instead of just trying to play deathmatch all the time.

I reckon that thats gonna become a bloody important role once 1.3 comes out! The Spec Ops willbe getting points for blowing that commanders junk up, and so there'll be a lot more people trying to do that. Which means more people for you to contend with. more people means more kills for our brilliant engy here!

Thank-God there's another player out there that does the same thing as me. Only a matter of time before i can unlock my Jackhammer since I wasted my 1st unlock on the G3 which is really good but I rarely use it.

I'd think that a Engineer could easily take you out from a close range. What is your point?

Sometime I use Spec Ops to be a Commander. I put some C4 around the main flag. It always work and they gona get pissed cause they drove so far to the main flag and BOOM! dead. Just drop supply near you and you can do it again and again. Strike at Karkand are best for this trick. Hide in the room next to the main flag at MEC side so you can see them and a place to protect your self.

I always stay at the main base trying to defend it too, but only when I am the commander. And I'd pick spec op instead of engineer so I can plant c4 around the commander assets, just far enough that it won't reduce my score cuz of team vehicle damage. Then I would hide in a place where I have a good visual contact with most of the assets and just spot incoming spec op with either my g36c or the radar. 99.9% of the time, those spec op would fail their mission! hahaha.... cuz most of the time the spec ops would approach the assets on their foot, so there isn't always enough pressure to trigger the mines that an Engineer plant around the assets. ^_*
                Just my 50 cents...

I was thinking the same thing. Mining your own base is maybe not such a good idea, unless you tell everybody and make sure spawing vehicles within still exit.

The Spec Ops would take out the Engineer from afar before the Engineer would take out the Spec Ops at close range.

Yes I've been doing this stuff forever! It's a lot of fun to be something more than a gunner sometimes.

Very good job mate, there needs to be more like you. Your role will be much more important next patch.

As commander on some maps i try to make time to be spec ops and blow oppositions arty. Golf of Oman is great for this. I've snuck around on the edge of the beach while the USMC have held all the flags along it and blown the arty. Just be a little selfish and drop one supply crate just away from arty so you can blow them all at once. Before i get flamed for not doing my job as commander, i make sure i stop constantly and help my team, not just go solo for 5 min. :)

Just mentioned it in another thread on Squad play, but I have never had so much fun as when I commanded a squad to defend ONE single base for a whole map. We must have had more than 15 tries from spec-ops trying to sneak in from the shore, to MIG bombraids, but to no avail . Although we were not on VOIP, everyone would use "the rose" and report enemies, and give cheers and thanks for good play. Great fun, decent score. I must admit that I am not always able to restrain myself to do this, but whenever I lead a squad I try to drop the Violet smoke grenade and take positions. Much recommended and very rewarding.
