I had this problem, found that disabling Panda antivirus stopped it, try switching off your firewall and antivirus before playing.

Try downloading HLSW www.hlsw.org. It's a server browser that shows a graph of the ping to any server you select. If you let it ping the server for a while you get a good picture of the stability of your connection. It's a bit fiddly to use but just make your own server list and add some BF2 servers.

I'm having the same problems, but mine are sporadic. I reinstalled Windows and the only thing I installed was BF2. I patched and updated PB. I still got lag. I have a nice system, AMD 64 3500+, X800Pro, Audigy 2ZS, WD Raptor HD and ADSL. I almost always get Server Connection Problem and it will stay on that one screen for about 10-15 seconds and by the time I get back to the game, I'm dead. A few times I actually get disconnected. Other times I can go all day without one problem. I've tried with router and without router, firewall no firewall and it's all the same. I never have any connection problems when I play online with any other game, only BF2. So what else is there to check?

          my specs:
          3ghz, P4
          6800GT
          1gb ram

Like I said, I don't know if it a problem with my connection or if it is my comp because I have done line tests and nothing seems wrong on my 3meg connection.

About every 6 seconds, my ping will jump to 400-700, and it gets very frustrating. If you are lagging because your computer is not good enough, does your ping rise, or because of my ping rising, is there something wrong with my dsl?

It makes me wander because I get the same lag whether im on high, or low graphics...

          Any help pleaaaaase is appreciated.
