    How lag in bf2 works...

I have been having tonssss of trouble with Battlefield 2 lag. I am of course using 1.02 patch, and every server I go to about every 6th second it will lock up "there is a problem with your connection" for 2-3 seconds.

    my specs:
    3ghz, P4
    6800GT
    1gb ram

Like I said, I don't know if it a problem with my connection or if it is my comp because I have done line tests and nothing seems wrong on my 3meg connection.

About every 6 seconds, my ping will jump to 400-700, and it gets very frustrating. If you are lagging because your computer is not good enough, does your ping rise, or because of my ping rising, is there something wrong with my dsl?

It makes me wander because I get the same lag whether im on high, or low graphics...

    Any help pleaaaaase is appreciated.

lol it might be that you are constantly connecting to euro servers. Do you check the ping in the multi player menu? If they are all above 100, there ya go. Just type in 100 in the ping filter then update.
This problem happened to me for 2 days after i got the new patch, then i noticed "omg these are all euro severs that i am connecting to". Hope that helps.

O ya and the graphics. If it says "connection disruppted" then its not ur settings. But if you get the screen stops, then you find urself in another position that may be ur settings. Also if ya get the "ghost car" where it just keeps going thats prob settings (just cant load the **** in the ram fast enough).

To the original poster, yes, it is your connection, because I have the same system specs you listed (except I have an X800 XL) and my connection is pretty good.

xfire and teamspeak are in the background, but I recently reformatted, no spyware at all.

It didn't use to do this and a lot of times now I lag even on teamspeak while playing and it hasn't ever happenned until like a week ago.

is there a line test or something I can do to see if everything in my connection is ok... it is a 3meg dsl connection and I shoudn't have these troubles.

Try "Internode" servers. If you receive high ping, but don't lag, then its just the fault of your old server you were playing on, because high ping is attributed to you in USA, and the server in Australia :)

Are you using a wireless connection?

Not wireless, just went to internode servers in AUST and I had about 250 ping, and it didn't go up much, just some lag.

So then I did the servers under 100 ping, went in a USA server and the lag wasn't near as bad but it wasn't real smooth. My guess is my computer just isn't all that good, but then again.... nether is the BF2 coding.

EDIT: oh, and called my DSL company for a line test, and everything was normal.

Did it lag more in Internode or servers under 100 ping? If it lagged more in US servers, probably a bad server. :hmm: Lag = horrible notices about connection. If it's just a slowdown, your computer is doing it.

Have you run any spyware scanners recently, or scanned for trojans?

Thanks will try, but....... Didn't they just release a pbweb. can I just update my PB from there? Plus, it is now 1.199 so I do that one instead of 1.198 right?

is this going to reduce my lag or something?
