You're incorrect. Strafe jumping is another skill, but it is slightly different than bunnyhopping because you hold the forward key while you do it, unlike bunnyhopping where the only buttons you ever push aside from jump are the strafe keys. Neither of them can be done in BF2. The only thing you see people doing in BF2 is jumping.

Bunnyhopping is superior to strafe jumping because you completely bypass the speed cap due to never having to press the forward key. With strafe jumping, you're constantly holding the forward key, so every time you hit the ground, the physics engine tries to impose that forward movement speed cap so you lose a tiny amount of speed each time.

I played Team Fortress Classic for years. I was very good at bunnyhopping and this is not bunnyhopping or strafe jumping at all. It's just jumping around like an idiot trying to dodge bullets.

Now if one were to call this 'kangarooing' that might fit both needs: the need to have some arcane shorthand for forums, while still not offending the palates of the 'slang purists' who have specific terms in mind when one says 'bunnyhopping'.
