I dont think sabots are useful in shotgun, smoothbore is the game here.

However I suspect there are technologies availible to encase the slugs or shot and help accelerate them until they leave the bore.

There are new shotguns being designed that have recently been shown on video to totally destroy man sized kelvar wearing targets. They probably will be deployed in the US military before 2010. I for one am kinda afraid of these new guns. They just pwn the older shotters Ive seen.
