BF2 Optimization mess up?

now this isnt much of a machine but it does run BF2 on low settings , basically i didnt change anything in the settings except for my controls ..
i can say if you want to make the game run better i would suggest tuning windows first ,so it will perform well . then it will be alot easier to adjust the settings in the game . but this is only my idea ..i experience lag as well as most of us do that arent millionaires to keep up with PC technology ..we have to suffice with our 6 month to 2 year old machines ,LOL
anyway if you would like some help with working on the windows side . PM me and i can give you some tutorials on how to set up windows first .
this isnt a 2 minute tuning guide to windows , its understanding how windows works and setting certain settings to your needs ..

Its what happened to my machine. The instant I installed the new drivers from ATI, was the instant I started getting all kinds of graphical glitches like flickering and slow frame rates. I uninstalled the driver and went back to my previous one and the problems were gone.

ya i have sbc as well. i was getting these lag spikes as well. it would paly fine for 10 minutes then rapidly go to "connection problem" screen and start getting like 1000ms ping. that was a month ago. it did it for a week and now it doesnt o well! :laugh:

Your video card is supposed to have two entries under display adapter. It has the ability to have two displays.

Also, your ping relates to your internet connection, so I would start from there. If you are running onboard sound, as well as an onboard modem, then that might explain the problem if there's a bottleneck at your northbridge. Otherwise, play the game in single player. Do you notice a drop in fps or lag or stutter during gameplay?

Since you have a video card, turn off your MB's video in the BIOS.

And with 256 MB RAM, who knows what you'll get to be honest.

I agree with this post. It sounds like you went through one too many optimizations. Delete this and let the game optimize you fully for 5 minutes and your game should be running as best as your hardware will allow it to.

Have you been smoking crack/eating wall candy, or do you just not have any idea what you're talking about? You couldn't even get a 30% increase in performance from overclocking your video card! Simply installing a set of hacked drivers is not going to increase his video card performance that much, if it all.

The best thing would be to get more RAM, ideally I think you need around 1.5gb for BF2, I'm running at 1gb at the moment and I think that another 512 would take the edge off of my small amounts of syslag just that extra bit.

Its your resources. You need more memory and a better video card. I'd go with 2Gb of RAM for any configuration. I did myself and it solved ALL of the problems I had. No more lag spike, no start lag, no hard lockups, no Crash-To-Desktops, faster load times, smoother game play, more FPS and a better running system all around.

See what I'm getting at! Its memory related. This game really needs 2Gb to run, on any system, and the 256 Mb you are using is abyssmal.

Remember, just because it says you can play it and you have the bare minimum specs, doesn't mean it'll be fun to play. It'll just run, nothing more.
