Whichever person at EA thought of stat tracking was really smart, I mean imo its crap and is the worst thing to happen to the bf games ever but it sure does keep the masses of smacktards hooked now doesn't it

While at times it can provide some direction and something to work to, more times than not it contradicts the supposed team focussed part of the game as it turns players into morons who only play for the stats not to actually have fun or be decent players, which is when it becomes really sad imo

Also that EA charge for it, also sad but still they make money from crapping up the game so they dont mind

Its also sad really because in theory if the stats system was modified slighlty or they actually spent some time actually thinking about it rather than just thinking about how to make money and do fa else then it might work alongside the game

i like stats, knowing how good you R or seeing how bad you can look at your weak points and try to correct them making you a better gamer without stats the BF woundnt be as much fun there would be no point in knifing people how would you know who tagz you have or how many you got and there would be no point in getting awards to if there was no stats and everyone luv it when they won a new bagde or medal that they have been going for i thank EA for putting stats in the game even thou it mit ruin som parts of the game play ie statpadders

You know, the only thing preventing me from taking offence is the fact that you have spent twice as much time as me "hooked".

They should disable players to look at other players stats and only be able to see your own stats. It's good to be able to see how many pilum kills and whatever you have, it is when people start to care about what other people think about their stats when the whole thing turns nasty.

So I like stats to a certain extent.

            Stat tracking system answer......

All EA has to do is place a time requirement or hours played before anyone can move to the next rank regardless of how many points, medals and badges they have earned. That would eliminate and or slow down the cheaters who could earn the rank of BG in a weeks time or SC in 2 weeks or less. You get the point ... Just a thought even though it isn't going to happen.

... I'm not looking forward to servers with only AFK's

I love the stat tracking system. It has greatly enhanced my enjoyment of this game. 2142 is a great game and would be so without the tracking but I think it enhances the game quite a bit.

Sure, it brings out the worst. Forces some to go commander and then leave the house for 10 hours a day....but what can you do? Let the vast minority ruin it for the majority?

There are so many maps and so many servers that if you don't like the way one or a group of players are playing you can leave for greener pastures. If you don't like the stat tracking, and as the OP noted, there are so many fps's out there without it....you can always go find a different game to play....or simply ignore your stats and play as if they don't exist.

i would if there is a game like BF. it's a unique game with big maps and vehicles and i have yet to find that in any other game. if there is a game remotely close, i would jump ship in a heartbeat. QW:ET which was to challenge the BF franchise was such a letdown.

stat system was genious and would be missed by many players if it was removed who doesnt like to look at kills per weapon their wins and losses score per minute

the mistake with the 2142 system was to create the general ranks that were awarded to best performers each week(ususally the knife only players got them) yes it was created as way to keep people playing, a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow so to speak . but it just created a group of stat padders and ticked of a lot of honest players who were trying to get that extra promotion

but it would of saved a whole lot of time and problems if they just incorperated the knife pistol game right into the game proper and stats from those kind of servers get saved seprately from those who play conquest or titan !!! i mean who much time and effort had been spent on this that could of been directed to keeping the game fresh or fix the damn tags above the players heads instead of full names let it be changed by the player to maybe just show the rank red if enemy green if friendly

i agree with one poster in this thread about maybe awarding points to be used to customize the players skins so when you are playing with or against a person who has "pimped" his soldier you know this guy has serious skill or to be feared or someone you really really want to knife to get his tags
maybe base it on wins or each time you beat or increase your stats

BF1942 and BFV did not have stat tracking, but i enjoyed them just as much if not more, and the game was less tainted because of this. looking back, it made the game more realistic (doing whatever you have to do in battle to win vs to gain points). hopefully DICE will consider this for the next BF game. would you guys mind if this happened?
I agree with you, say no to stats!

well theres sites like this for that.
Our goal is to monitor alld Battlefield 1942 servers globally and to produce player statistics in real time.

They better take away the stats n such if they hope to take everyone away from CoD4 when BF3 comes out!

Has anyone here played (or still play) Star Wars Battlefront? I used to put hours into that game, till all the numerous hacks and glitches were made public, and only a handful of decent servers still existed.

But thinking back, I sometimes wonder...... How many times did I pilot an AT-AT? How many enemies did I kill with the nearly useless pistol? Which class or faction did I play the most?
The problem is, I'll never know. I don't care if BF dumps the ranking or awards system, but I definitely like the data it provides.
So I'm thinking if they get rid of awards and such, but still kept track of raw data, and kept it private, that might be a good compromise. It's not perfect, but no system could be.

yea my point in saying other popular fps games don't have stat tracking was trying to say that you don't need stat tracking to have a popular game.

i think people think they are more attached to the stat system than they actually are. counter strike is the most popular online fps but nobody cares about their stats being recorded. i think if stats were gone, we'd realize we don't really need them.

OK...I have to agree with what you say there. Battlefront was, apparently, an extremely popular game when it came out. Without stat tracking.
But I'm wondering if your system would allow for plain data. Just for the sake of info, but with no ties to points or promotion?

You could do it like TF2 : http://steamcommunity.com/id/Vreki/stats/TF2

Individual stats but no leaderboard (that I know of)
But the stats are still public, so they are vulnerable to stats-gathering services like 2142-stats.com
