it will be possible on all maps if what im reading is right, some people figured out what they did to the pods to restrict movements and its pretty easy to see a way around
Highroof Legal Servers for Gibraltar

It's a lame tactic.... I bet you like pod surfing as well huh? Too bad they are patching out the pod surfing!Originally posted by BreffHowdy,
I'm just wondering if anybody knows of any Gibraltar servers (preferable in the eurozone) where highroofing is legal. Some of the best games I've ever played are where both teams use the roofs alot but servers where it's legal seem to be few and far between.
Thanks in advance!

On servers where the roofs are legal it's a tactic open to everyone so I'd be interested to know why you think it's lame (I'm talking about roofs here and not pod-surfing). In my humble opinion it turns a two dimensional game with two dimensional thinking into a three dimensional game and expands the possibilities no end.

K1ll@x is my favourite server for roofing, although if you do it there you have to EXPECT competition across roofs (which actually makes it more enticing), taking the battle to other levels. I only ever really do it if a near unsurpassable choke point arrives (cue between ruins and central), then it's just nice to be able to get away from the spamming and take the high ground.
There's no excuse really for people who don't like it though - it's not difficult to kill someone on the roof. Grenades are packed as standard with your kits, medics have rockets which are stupidly easily to score with, and I've even been sudnik'ed off a roof before (whoever carries a sudnik on camp G when both walkers are incapacitated is a LEGEND). Any kit can kill a roofer, and if you feel you can't... well... practice more I spose.
As somebody else said, you could always get on their roof yourself and knife them :yay: - half the time they won't even notice you land your pod next to them because they're so busy dropping nades and spamming PK's.Comment

Nicely said. I've been trying out the K1ll@x server over the last few days and I really like it despite the fact that it's 64 player mayhem. Some of the K1ll@x members are seriously good which raises the bar.Originally posted by LolynK1ll@x is my favourite server for roofing, although if you do it there you have to EXPECT competition across roofs (which actually makes it more enticing), taking the battle to other levels. On the subtopic that I started earlier on regarding punkbuster. I player 7 hours solid the other night (I'm on sick leave from work :yay:) before getting kicked for the illegal program/driver issue (which I still haven't identified). It's all very erratic.Comment

I don't mind the intensity. Sure it means there's a potential to die more often as there's always the spam factor to put in, but I just think "more people to kill", and if you're in a good squad then there's more potential to cause maximum carnage in your favour.
And yeah, K1ll@x is good because as Breff says, you often get a lot of high ranked but more importantly, talented players there. I actually avoided it when I first found out about it because I couldn't cope with it after playing so much titan, but now I welcome the challenge and thrive in that environment.
I still enjoy 32 man maps though, the carnage is still there, but it's just more localised, that isn't a problem :) I'd feel sincerely less inclined to roof on smaller servers though - you just don't need to.Comment

I'm getting ZERO pod movement with the new patch. Fingulfin, how about you?Originally posted by FingulfinMy favorite (US) server for Surfing/Roofing is NfB. FF=On, which kills all the RDX Bunnies and scares away the noobs.
About 1.4 Surfing: I'm going to go and test it out a bit more, see if I can work out a way to surf on Gibraltar...Comment

why are you all so bound to pod surf? It's a crutch, you guys should really learn to play the game the way it was intended. I find it much more challenging to fight my way thru choke points rather than throw down a beacon and fly safely past the enemy. As far as the rooftops i find it kinda lame as well. Always seems that theres a squad up there that will do nothing other than spam rockets or grenades at a flag. The flag/silo can be taken by the enemy and not one rooftopper will ever drop down to take it back, just more spam. It's another crutch that people use cause they can't fight face to face without getting killed.Comment

If you read the entire thread, you should find all your questions asked. I was asking for technical information and not moral advice. :-)why are you all so bound to pod surf? I think we can all agree that DICE considers pod surfing to be an exploit. This is the reason they patched it out of the game.Originally posted by FingulfinMy favorite (US) server for Surfing/Roofing is NfB. FF=On, which kills all the RDX Bunnies and scares away the noobs.

I think it is also reasonable to assume that anyone who finds a new way to pod surf is deserving of a stat reset and or GUID ban. You've been told, in no uncertain terms, that pod surfing is exploiting by DICE. If you're going to keep doing it, you might as well stop by xxxx hack site and buy some hacks too.Comment

Erm, gotta correct you there I'm afraid. EA actually have said, documented that they actually intended for rooftops to be allowed in play. http://battlefield.ea.com/battlefiel...&storyid=18912 - If you check that and look for the pod surfing fix note, it'll show you there.I think we can all agree that DICE considers pod surfing to be an exploit. You won't be subject to a stats wipe or GUID ban if you ever manage to get on a roof.Comment

I don't believe I said anything about rooftops. Nope, just double-checked, I definitely only said pod surfing.Erm, gotta correct you there I'm afraid. I also don't believe I said that you WILL get a stat wipe or GUID ban, but rather that if you find a new way to pod surf you DESERVE both consequences. The person I quoted suggested he would find a way around the patch. To him I say that if he is successful, he is exploiting/glitching/cheating and he should be banned.
People who are pro-pod surfing ruined this game months ago and sucked the fun right out of it. Now that the problem has finally been fixed, these pod-exploiters need to acknowledge that they were wrong all along and STFU.Comment
