Try shooting one portal on the roof directly above you and one right where you stand and whoops. You are freefalling.
For those who are still trying to grapple with the dimensions it helped me a lot when I realized that you'll exit the portal AT THE SAME SPEED that you enter the entry portal. Example: You'll need to "superman" across the chasm/get on the ledge. Place the exit portal high above your self on the opposite wall facing the ledge/side you need to go. And then look for a long drop to floor where you can place the entry portal. Then jump! Just when you are about to hit the deck fire the entry portal and weeeeeeeee.... You'll exit the exit portal at the same velocity you hit the entry portal and "fly" on a ballistical trajectory to the ledge/side. Disorientation comes from the fact that you'll always land on your feet and the engine maneuvers you to make it so. Just ignore it. All you need to think about is the entry and exit speed and trajectories. In later stages you'll need to utilize the velocity factor a lot.Comment

just played through it yesterday and it was incredible, also the commentary levels are really interesting to listen to

Haven't ordered the Orange Box yet but I'm really looking forward to playing Portal. In the meantime I tried out Narbacular Drop, an earlier game made by the same people who worked on Portal. If portal is as good or better than NB I'm going to love it.

In one of the first levels there will be one mounted in the floor, shooting yellow portals in random direction.
When that is picked up your portal-o-matic will be upgraded.
You need it to proceed on that level, so you cant have missed it :)Comment
