How do EuroForces and ArmoredFury get keyed, cause if its just locked to your account then I could break up a 900MB rar file which has all three and share it on MU with my premium account. They'll be in 100MB pieces, so 9 parts that should stay up for a while.
EA Downloader, WTF only 6 months to redownload game unless you pay more money?!?!

Hello, another member of DICE posted. Could someone please address this? Confirm, deny or just say hey you bought this before it went into effect so your cool. For crying out loud has anyone actually read the 2 year extended thing, they said they will back it up for YOU (implying only you) not that you'll have access to it for 1.5 years longer then others who didn't pay the $5.99 more.
Boosters, great idea, cheap expansions for game material on regular basis that you can simply download. Where did this fail? No dedication, if they would of kept coming at regular intervals like say every 3 to 6 months after a games release, maybe get some sponsors with advertising on the maps to drop the price to say $8 bucks flat (ingame ads, yeah the community saw EA give back on that one) and release a free map every half a year for a 2-3 year game cycle (could be cut short if the games a flaming POS), then I think the community would of been a bit more behind EA/DICE. And offer some of hard copy media, like say the $5.99(or $3 flat, no flare) fee for a CD to be mailed to you?
I'm guessing right now, they don't care. They are working on the 1.40 patch that could be the last patch we see and I wouldn't be surprised if they just picked it up because EA has Crysis coming out soon and they wanted to seem like they're doing something for the community so it looks like they didn't abandon us like they will abandon Crysis when interested drops after its been out a while.
I still play BF2 regularly, I love SF, EF and AF (admittedly I don't play SF as much because of the exiting out of BF2 thing). But I don't play it as much as I would like there is no new content. Tampa, great one map...that should of been released months ago. There are actually a bunch of really good unreleased for reason such $ map packs, boosters and expansions (they didn't make the cut for the original game).Comment

Dunno about you guys but I got another EADM update today, they've probably read this thread
Personally, this new payment scheme sucks balls - they will alienate the few people who are still loyal to them after being ****ed over continually the past 4 years or so then all the games they will sell will be for the nubs who get them in Xmas stockings etc.Comment

Quote from the extended download service
Here is some of the terms and conditionThink of this as your digital safety net for those unexpected occurrences - like your hard drive frying or a virus infection. EDS means that with the purchase of your digital product, we'll keep a copy of your file for two full years, so you don't have to. This is in addition to the complimentary coverage we provide for 6 months with any digital purchase from the EA STORE. You'll gain peace of mind knowing that we have your program stored and ready for you to download again at your convenience.
A little extra protection on your order to keep your products safe? Why not!
From my understanding of the quote, it's saying that if you don't go with the extended service, they will only keep on file for 6 months the fact that you bought the game. After those 6 months, you will indeed have to purchase the game again unless you go with the extended service which will bring it out to 2 years until you have to buy again.Code:1. Extended Download Service - Upon payment of the specified fee, Digital River, Inc. ("DR") agrees to provide you (the "End User") a service that enables the End User to make multiple downloads of digital computer software products (a "Product" or "Products") purchased in a single order (an "Order") and downloaded from this website (the "Site") for a period of 2 (two) years after the End User purchases the Product (the "Service"). 2. Use of the Service - To use the Service, the End User must: a. Use a browser connected to the Internet, visit the help page. b. In the top right corner add your Order Number and Password to the "Quick Order Lookup" and click "find order" c. Click on Product Download button and download the Product. 3. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability - DR MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER WITH RESPECT TO THE SERVICE AND/OR THE PERFORMANCE OF THE PRODUCT; INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. DR DOES NOT WARRANT, GUARANTEE OR MAKE ANY REPRESENTATION REGARDING THE USE, OR THE RESULTS OF THE USE, OF THE SERVICE AND/OR THE PRODUCT IN TERMS OF CORRECTNESS, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, CURRENTNESS, OR OTHERWISE. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE RESULTS AND PERFORMANCE OF THE SERVICE AND THE PRODUCT IS ASSUMED BY THE END USER. DR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE TO END USER FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE BREACH OF ANY WARRANTIES, THE FAILURE OF DELIVERY, DELAY IN DELIVERY, DELIVERY IN NONCONFORMING CONDITION, THE USE OF THE SERVICE AND/OR THE PRODUCT, OR FOR ANY OTHER BREACH OF CONTRACT OR DUTY BETWEEN DR AND THE END USER. DR shall have no obligation to provide the Service, and shall have no liability to the End User in the event DR is unable, as may be determined in the sole discretion of DR: to make multiple downloads of the Product as a result of modifications or changes to the End User's computer system which make it incompatible with the downloading process, changes or modifications to the Product that render the Product unsuitable for downloading, changes in methods of Internet access or operation that make the Product unsuitable for downloading, any other change or modification to technology and/or the Internet that makes the Product unsuitable for downloading, or the unavailability of the Product as a result of the actions of the vendor, publisher, or other supplier of the Product. 4. Effectiveness of Agreement - The End User's use of the Service shall not in any respect whatsoever modify any of the terms, conditions, or restrictions contained in the license agreement or other agreement by which the End User initially acquired rights to use the Product (the "End User Agreement"), and the use of the Product downloaded in connection with the Service shall in each and every instance remain subject to the terms, conditions, and restrictions contained in the End User Agreement. 5. Refunds - A refund of the fee for the Service shall only be payable to the End User if the End User makes a request for a refund on all Products that are part of an Order. The End User shall not be entitled to a partial refund in connection with the End User's request for a refund for less than all of the Products contained in an Order. 6. General - Any and all claims or disputes relating to the Service shall be governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota. For the purpose of resolving conflicts relating to the Service, DR and the End User agree that venue shall be in the State of Minnesota only, and, in addition, the End User hereby consents to the jurisdiction of the federal and state courts in the State of Minnesota. DR may assign its rights and delegate its duties with respect to the Service without providing notice to, or receiving the consent of, the End User.Comment

After this cute little stunt, would you really put it past them?Originally posted by Toxic_WolfWell, at my place NS is still installed, so i have no worries.
Unless EA will backstab me, but i think even EA wouldn't do that!
Best to just back it up yourself and be safe.Comment

I've got EADM installed on C drive and there is no bf 2142 (or battlefield 2142) folder. I've got the actual game installed on F dirve. Should I change it instead?Originally posted by cliffroFor those looking and not finding the file in the cache, Simply rename your Battlefield 2142 folder to something else, then restart EADM. It will allow you to redownload it. Then back it up to disk and change the name back.
Example: Battlefield 2142_
And for the record this is a very bad move on EA's part. For now on I'll buy only DVDs from the store. Steam is lightyears ahead of EADM in usability and kudos.
I bet those people who decided this are quite high up in management who were brainstorming how to make more dough for the stock holders. This is just a very stupid idea. I can practically imagine the conversation:
Marketing manager: Ok people. Listen up. We need to make our business more profitable. You have the email invitations. Any ideas?
Eugen: Sir.
MM: Yes Eugen.
Eugen: We could make the downloadable games available for only, say six months, and if they want to redownload it they should be able to do it by paying some small fee. After all they use twice the bandwidth so why not make them pay for it.
MM: Good point. Sharon, I want your opinion on the legal matters. Is this legal.
Sharon: Let me check. Yes it's legal in the strictly speaking, but it's not very fair is it?
MM: Since when you have grown a heart?
Typical meeting pack-mentality like laughter ensues. MUAHAHAHAAHAAH!!!
MM: So lets make some checks on the legality matter and then proceed with this if it's ok. Eugen. If this goes live then you are on for that promised bonus. Keep up the good work.Comment

Erm, is EA quashing any threads related to this on their official forum? Because you'd think it'd be easy to find but so far I don't even see a shred of it.
Way to go, EA. Way to go.
*EDIT
Ok I couldn't find one, so I made one:
So now all my downloads will "expire" in 6 months unless I purchase a $5.99 plan to extend the length they are available to 2 years?
Let's see. That's all the BF boosters, BF2142 itself, and NS. All gone unless I pay EA MORE money for a service that has previously been free. No thanks.
Everyone be warned--back up your EADM downloads now so you don't have to pay EA any more money for content you already own!
Unless, of course, I'm misunderstanding this whole thing, in which case nevermind, carry on about your business. But if it's true, then WHOA, WHOA, WHOA, WHOA, WHOA, WHOA....Whoa. What are you thinking, EA?
