Guidelines for Server Admins

Balancing kicks and Bans for rules clearly displayed against the thought of losing a few players is obviously an issue for all admins.

Pausing the game isn't ideal. Why break the fun up for 60 odd players just cause a few are breaking the rules. Kick the rule breakers without disturbing the game play for the rest is far better IMHO.

i think i read somewhere in the roe that you cant pause ranked servers.. i maybe be wrong lol

I dont recall there being a pause rule.

As for not being able to take time to read the rules, well, this discussion is based on the term of "community". Its a two way street and what happens will happen. I do agree that the rules and warnings do flash a bit fast, but when they are on websites, loading screens, scroll screens, and in warnings, how many does someone need?

Of course that is why a kick is just a kick, to get attention of an action that shouldnt be done. Then again, when you kick someone, the reason is only showed on the splash screen and not in the PB screen at log off. I wish they would fix that.

Anyway, you can only do so much and any type of ignorance cant always be an excuse, though it is a good point.

When no info is shown after being kicked from a server it is due to how you were kicked. If you are kicked by an admin it will always say "Admin Decision" on the screen. If it does not give a reason why then the admin did not put a reason or has not setup warn/kick messages in the 2142CC console. If you are kicked and it just says PB, then it could be for many other reasons that the admin has no control over. These kicks can be caused by PB being out of date, PB failing any portion of the checks that it makes when you join a server or you were auto kicked via 2142CC for hitting the magic kick number for some setting. I have my server set to auto kick a player when their score reaches -20, for example. There also settings for amount of teamkills and things of that nature.

I do agree that the game has weak admin tools when compared to other games. There really is no one program that does it all. I use in game admin, 2142cc and a couple of web utilities to admin the server.

I doubt it. Besides the RoE doesn't matter anymore, just EA's RoC and I know there's nothing about pausing in the RoC.

I try to refrain from ever pausing, but when we're playing Cerbere and half of the team is spawn camping in the uncap I usually pause and talk to people instead of kicking 1/4th of the server.

Just kick offending squads leaders the rest of the squad soon get the idea :)

I myself am an admin, i take a different stance on some subjects but the basics are still the same, good guidelines anyway

That's a very nice way to admin a server isn't it. I do believe that E.A would have something to say about the way you admin'.

Guidelines to M@N admins errr be on your server a few times. Jeez its no mans land. Glitchers padders *** hats. Come on guys start being admins and stop being AFK
