They've been working on it for awhile. They are rolling it out before their new major releases this fall so that people can shop online and download with ease.

I have a feeling that Steam has them under a "lot of pressure" to catch up. lol

I've used Steam recently for Bioshock and Team Fortress 2; it's pretty sweet with the new integrated "community", etc.

Well, I'm not impressed by the new EA Downloader. Doesn't really seem like much of an improvement and I've got the Flash issue, too.

You know EA has a large number of development teams... right? DICE being just one of the many. You don't see people from the C&C3 team working on BF2142, just like you don't see the people from DICE working on the EADM/Link team. =\

I'd say it's worth it, especially if you have any EA Link games that require EA link to be active (I'm running off a EA Link version of BF2142 because I lost my disk). The new EADM is a lot slimmer than EA Link, and the new store system is much more accessible (you don't have to have EA Link installed the PURCHASE games). For me, the advantage is I can access the store from my Mac.

i had to reinstall game so i went to ea link to reinstall patch but had to update to EADM and lost the patch because it updated to EADM therefore link files were no longer required, so now ive got to wait 2 hours for a patch again, some old story ea screw me over

I have the same problem. I tried the Beta of EADM with this Flash problem and they could not fix it. I am waiting for a response from EA to see if I can reload EA Link so I can continue playing my 2142. It is a pain in the ***. The only way I can see to fix this problem is a complete reformat and reload everything. For me that is not an option. I hope EA can fix this problem.

Huh? Why is CS and HL2 in the EA store. I thought thhey had Steam for that...
