Since when were sniper rifles made for close combat? Its not like I'm going to rush with a single shot gun.

Why do people get criticized for their playing style? and how is camping a "noob" thing to do?
That isnt camping, that is employing the tactic a sniper should.

This is camping: Being a recon kit with APMs and RDX on CareBear Landing as the EU and laying RDX down on the spawn points in their main when they are pinned in.

a sniper by definition needs to stay in one spot or not move around that much;I couldnt include this in a definition of camping -yes some players use the close combat move and shoot techniques but on the whole our friends the snipers are quite static.I would define a camper as a player who lingers near spawnpoint/uncap specifically to unfairly target players as they spawn or a player who statically defends a corrridor on the titan.Snipers are easy to locate - I play wearing headphones and any sniper in my vicinity is gonna get rumbled pretty quicky. Most sniping spots are well known to seasoned players and should be checked auromatically -I used to play sniper alot but not any more..Sidi is probably a fav for sniping on,sounds lie you owned a few people and they didnt like it..there is nothing I like more than slitting a sipers throat he he

I don't see that spot as camping, but if you were on my team, I wouldn't think you were doing a lot to help the team win.

No flame. Snipers kill the enemy. That helps the team win.

Personally, sniping is not my thing. However, I have no issue at all with you choosing to play your way. Have fun :yay:

Snipers camp.. they are suppose to... players given an order by their commander to defending a flag/silo are suppose to camp that flag/silo... players defending their titan are in otherwords camping... the player in the tank sitting 100 yard away from a silo shooting at it is camping... the player who nades the chokepoints on Gib are camping.. the engineer who is sitting on a supply create under the titan taking out the guns is camping... the game if full of it.. camping is apart of the game and you cant get away from it... and if your always getting killed by the so called camper who is defending his flag.. then more fool you for approaching from the same direction all the time lol

what you described is fine. besides, once you (as a sniper) kill someone ONCE, they should be running around in random zig-zag patterns to make it harder on you (the sniper) and then they should have nothing to complain about.
Could not agree with you more

If the person you shoot at keeps coming back and thinks: Duuuuuuuuuhhhhhh ( drewl ) instead of: hmm there was a sniper that shot me here last time better duck or try and find him. than he only deserves to get shot

Thats part of the issue; everyone has different ideas of camping. What the OP was doing is not the "bad" camping.

Forget about the other players when they say stuff like that. They got a skull full of lead fragment and didnt like it.

Fish pointed out some very valid points and the one thing I would like to add is a little thing that you dont see much in ANY FPS game, DEFENSE.

When you defend an area, what are you doing? There has been a number of times, though rare, that I will take a point and set traps and just hold on to the point. Is it as much fun? Not always. Does it help the team? Yes, very much so.

No snipers dont always race around capping flags/silos, but a kill and mass confusing is one less ticket and one more step to a disorganized enemy, letting your team win.

Happy camping, but dont attack the uncaps

I don't even really think of that as camping. What I think of as camping is hovering around spawn points at a flag (i.e. base rape) and defending a high traffic area (titan corridors, choke points). I kind of even feel bad for choke point campers since they're fairly easily dislodged with grenades and rockets (except for corridor campers). But getting mad at snipers for camping seems pretty trivial. How can you not anticipate snipers on Sidi anyway?

More true in conquest mode where there is a ticket counter than in titan where there isn't. A team full of snipers that never takes a silo can not win against a team that holds all the silos - even if the team with the silos all stand still and let the snipers kill them every time they spawn.
