I remember that DICE wanted to make the air vehicles not as hard to use as BF2's but they could still be uber-pwnmobiles with a skilled pilot.

You can loop pretty easily, if you switch your mouse hand over and use the arrow keys while you loop. But if you want to loop without taking your hand off the mouse, you definitely need to crank the sensitivity settings.

I would suggest putting the air vehicle sensitivity settings all the way up, or close to it. But, it would really be in your best interest to get a mouse that allows you to adjust sensitivity on-the-fly, so that you can drop the sens down for gunning.

Wow, you mean joystick with a battlewalker? I've never thought about doing that, what would I have to do? This would be just like the ol' Mechwarrior days.

          Or is this sarcasm.. =\

I routinely get a 10-1 k/d ratio in the gunship, so those who say the gunship lowers your k/d ratio my advice to you is to practice more, a lot more.

true, find yourself a good pilot or a good gunner and you can completely dominate the skies and the ground.

Flying manuevers with the gunship is not hard, you can do a back loop, front loop, half a back loop-twist and turn. The real skill is in doing a back/front loop with a dropship, which is quite easy once you get the hang of it, and the best thing about it is that if a gunship is following you, a backloop is a good thing to evade its missiles or destroy the gunship all together.

yeh theres plenty to do manuevers wise

my fave is doing the loop but sort of stabilising at the top and then firing my missiles at a chasing gunship if you know what i mean
