ergo, i prefer bf2142 because i get more kills per death. maps/graphics are a little worse, but the overall play is much better in the sequel

My bf2 k/d ratio is 1.5 but I think that I could manage something like 2-2.5 if the planes weren´t so utterly powerfull and there weren´t some grenade showers in infantry maps.

But I think that there are some ubber leet players in bf2 infantry and I didn´t find the same kind of skill in bf2142...I even played with redhammerz that people call one of the best and I didn´t thought I was so outclassed as I was with lots of players in bf2.

I prefer bf2142 because I manage to hit where I aim, whereas in bf2 I could empty a magazine and the guy that was with its back to me continues to run without harm.

2142 - Camp Gibraltar - Starting from PAC side:

Map starts, both commanders put up UAV. I check UAV and see that there's a ton of guys on the left side, so I go right. UAV wears off. At this point, someone from the other team has put an IDS right near the fence, and there's multiple squad leaders walking around with that recon drone above their head.

Now, every single person on the right side of the map, knows exactly where I am as I try to sneak around to one of those two ladders.

I however, and completely blind, because my team did not put down an IDS, and I'm not in squad.

Chances of survival in this situation? Zero. I will get killed not because the other players are better, but because the game has provided them an incredible advantage.

Think man THINK! ..... Knowlage is the strongest thing on the world, it makes the game more realistic cause theres something like spying out enemy positions. Its ur problem that u werent in a squad (or commander), u must think ur every move on the battlefield to kill and dont get killed while killing the guyz who where trying to kill u.

BF2142 is about 40% easier than BF2 in overall terms.

Nade spam in BF2 only happens at certain points at infantry maps with infantry only server settings but is dealt easier than titan nade spam. Jets can be a frustrating problem if you don't know how to avoid/deal with bombards.

Biotech, jets can be avoided? TELL ME HOW!! Whenever I manage to dodge them magically, I still die. I took cover underneath a hangar like thing, only to have an APC roll in and instakill me to death. I find the air maps extremely boring. You are travelling for 60 seconds only to die to a jet that is going 60-1. Don't forget the teammates: they think that having 15 men waiting for one jet to spawn is a good thing.

No, what really makes BF2 is the atmosphere. I find BF2's athmosphere a lot more fun. The game has a certain vibe. The expansion pack is the best example: I just played a map called Warlord. There is a huge palace in that map, and the enemy was defending it very well. We charged them head on, only to die to nadespam and claymores (Claymores cannot be destroyed by the way... wtf is that?!). I ran to the east wall, which is 20m high and completely unguarded. I grabbed my grappling hook, threw the thing up the wall, and my 6 man squad climbed up. We moved through the palace like a knife through hot butter :)

What I like about BF2142 is the technical aspect, the game's balance. The balance in BF2 is quite poor every now and then, where 2142 has a very good balance (I am ignoring the Krylov/Voss/Pk rocket situation now). Air is not overpowered nor underpowered. A good tank driver owns, but he can still be owned by TEAMWORK. Teamwork is what makes this game shine. Clanmatches are extremely fun (at least for me they are). Teamwork is a necessity there, and it just feels great when your squad manages to kill 25 enemy squads in a row through the combined efforts of 6 soldiers. You will hardly see BF2 squadplay in a pub game. When I make a squad in BF2, I play like a real squadleader. People like it and they always join my squad, bu they are always hesitating when I ask them to be SL for a minute. I find that bf2142 (BEFORE the massive amount of Holliday Kids that bought the game) has more teamplayers (excluding statpa- sorry, titan "defenders" ;P).

lol... its quite a bit harder to go to BF2 I think
easily solved by changing your parachute key to space through the .con files

going from BF2 > 2142 would be harder but it i guess it all depends on how long you've been playing to get used to the style, for me playing 2142 now i hate the Sniper rifle aiming couldnt really get the hang of the basic rifle up/down movement

From a friend who went back to BF2 ive heard the opposite, where 2142 was too hard. apparently the guns have too much recoil and not accurate enough :\

That was the main imbalance in BF2 that I found.
 That is the real downfall of BF2 (Wake island for example) Air power is completely UNSTOPABLE if the U.S. caps the airfield.

SF is where it's at, although the choppers can also overpower a map; but at least even the mighty Apache can be backed off by a good spray from a .50cal. But overall SF is a far greater game IMHO. The amount of movement you have available w/ Zip lines and grappling hooks adds so many dimensions to the game. (Oh snap we’ve got this flag on lock down nobody’s getting’ in here *beat* OMG they’re coming in form the roof.) Plus night missions (you can actually be sneaky :yay: ) And the utter chaos involved inside the belly of the Iron Gator or the hallways of the Palace on Warlord. Oh and the (dare I say) terror of not knowing where the enemy is inside the Sub pins on Leviathan. Loads of room to room fighting inside structures...Brilliant!!

recently reinstalled BF2 and updated to 1.41 patch. Joined a game, yeah it was pretty fun. Especially since the last time I played before was on a 15 inch monitor (now replaced with a 20 inch lcd)

Then this happened on gamearena. No commander yet vehicles repeatedly got dropped. Confirmed someone on PAC. Errr I mean MEC.

                  .

                    That's a hack. The enemy commander's f'ing with you.

Ugh, I remember all of the hacks in BF2... 2 out of 5 rounds there would be the commander hack, and as well as a wall exploiter in Karkand. When I tried to go back to BF2, I died multiple times for jamming the space bar while i was falling. And with the support guns, I kept wanting to hold the trigger down, thinking the gun would get more accurate. And I kept wanting to zoom in with the sniper rifle.

Also I kept wanting to zoom in with the tank but it just shot the coaxial gun.
