I always thought the beacon spawns IAR requirements were kind of dumb. I mean think about it - you would imagine that you would get your Squad Leader Excellence badge from being an excellent squad leader, no? Basically what the SL badge requires you to do is have a completely sucky squad that constantly marches into the gunfire and gets killed repeatedly. IMO, ordering your guys to do that would make you anything but an excellent squad leader. Now, if they were to make the IAR requirements Squad Leader Success Points instead of beacon spawns, that would make more sense to me. But oh well.

ya know.... i pretty much NEVER use a beacon because i hate them and personally think they're detrimental to the squad....

but... i'm not sure how i wound up with this gold so easy... swear i don't think i had people spawning on a beacon. i wonder if there is or was a time when it was simply squaddies spawning on you yourself.

i've used the slb as much as a sniper rifle.... which is EXTREMELY rare. yet, i got this gold very easily.

I actually agree with you 100% here. It amazes me that they include a perfectly good game mechanic, like SL success points, then use something moronic for the award. Another example are the vehicle service-type badges. You have driver assist and skill assist points available, yet the badge requires running people over? WTF?? Where's the tactical sense in that? :shakehead:

ROFL - great idea! I think that's how I got my silver anyways...

Hell Ifigured I needed that 4th SL unlock to make em spawn quicker. Figure it would be more attractive to the squad members? Come to think of it, I'm really not sure how that 4th SL unlock works. It's a beacon right? That makes them spawn much quicker than normal?

Its a passive upgrade to the SLSB, meaning that once unlocked you will always have it, you cant switch between the two.
It cuts spawn time from 15 to 10 seconds, but I think you need to have the SLSB selected as spawnpoint before you die to get the reduced spawntime.

Unless you tell them you squad probably wont notice the difference. As far as I recall the icon in the squad list that shows what SL tool you are using doesn't change either.

deploy a beacon on the back of an enemy titan. 6 man squad. if the enemy titan is defended and everyone is spawning on it, you should have it easy.

THE TITAN ATTACK BADGE, NOW THAT ONES A *****!

Yep, this award is logically wierd since a 'good' squad would actually keep people alive more which means less beacon spawn.

Not really a tip for getting gold squad leader, but some tips on getting the most out of your beacons. Indirectly tho, squadmates that see the beacon in a good spot will use it alot more, hence help you get those 30 spawns.

-Put your beacon in a good spot to attack/defend an area from an unexpected angle. Make it the first thing you do before you consider making enemy contact

-battlefield fronts is always shifting so good spawns don't stay that good for long. Retrieve the beacon and carry it with you when you are moving forward. An exception to this is you may wish to have a backup spawn for a heavily contested spot. You can also use it as a backdoor to sneak back in and steal the point from under their noses once the action died down and the enemy has moved on.

-put it in places that aren't too close to the action and somewhere reasonably covered to reduce the likihood of enemies seeing you and your squad come down and take it upon themselves to set up an unfriendly welcoming commitee.

-if you are anticipating the enemy doing a main spawn rush, you may consider putting one down at the main when the game starts.

But basically, the beacon is a tool that allows you to decide where you want reinforcements to come from, so you can guide your rabble of d00ds that you call a squad to an ideal location for them to cause the most mayhem to the enemy. So put it down somewhere good and you will provide lots of fun times for squad and for the enemy.

I got mine attacking a very well defended titan in a squad of 4 on a 48 player map aswell as spawns prior to hitting the titan.

You could always have a 30 death streak if your really desperate for it though i think this is technically statpadding even though your screwing your stats to do it.
