I also have a soldier named "Torture* Jack_Bauer*24"

My rant was directed at people who watch a highly popular movie or TV show and run mindlessly to a game and create characters from the movie or TV show.

So by "original", I don't mean the name alone. I was expressing annoyance with the people who are purely copycats and idolize the TV show or movie.

There is an original, unique story behind my two soldier names.

Back when I played Battlefield 2 with a crappy computer, my roommate teased me because I died so many times to people with better computers. I had like 5 kills 30 death games. So he would say "Playing battlefield huh? Gonna be cannon fodder for the other team?" and "You're just cannon fodder!" So when I got 2142 and a new graphics card, I picked Cann0n_Fodder as a soldier name.

I created Torture* Jack_Bauer*24 for the sole purpose of playing assault with the Baur only. The name is a joke about the Baur assault rifle, and it also makes a political statement.

Did you know that on June 23rd, 2006, at Washington, D.C. the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, held a discussion forum called "'24' and America's Image in Fighting Terrorism: Fact, Fiction or Does it Matter". This forum was attended by Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and other government officials and the writers, cast and crew of 24. Rush Limbaugh, a popular radio talk show host, spoke at the event and said that Donald Rumsfeld and the Vice President, D1ck Cheyney were fans of the show.

The Homeland Security Secretary was the main speaker, and went on to thank the show. "Chertoff himself praised the character and tenacity of "24's" fictitious uber-agent, Jack Bauer (played by Kiefer Sutherland), and his CTU colleagues, saying such perseverance will help America defeat terrorism." and "...the agents on "24's" Counter-Terrorism Unit, like the 180,000 people under his supervision, have to make difficult choices while faced with "imperfect information" and a series of "unpalatable alternatives.""

I do have a big problem with my government publically thanking the show 24 because the show helps gain public support for policies of torture and helps to legitimize it in the minds of people.

They are thanking and praising the show because it incrementally desentsitizes people to the inhumane illegal use of torture.

Have you ever watched 24? Jack Bauer tortures someone like every other episode, and he even tortures children.

Back on topic, can you see the difference between my Jack Bauer character, and someone else's Jack Bauer character (who chose the name because they love the show and fantasize about torturing people?)

As for the Spartan name of the OP, sure he might have picked the name for his own unique reasons. But based on the context of his post, it is safe to say that he is another copycat fanboy.

What is the purpose .....................who cares if they make MG, LG or SC with all the stat padding going on. In another year most players will be BG's anyway and then they will start looking for another FPS to play.
