to avoid game boredom never play one game relentlessly, the only time a game will not become boring doing this is with World of Warcraft because it is cursed

WoW was the most boring game I ever played :p

I keep things spiced up by playing Everquest, Counter-Strike, 2142, BF 2, Oblivion, etc etc... watch movies, read books, go out with friends :)

Any game gets old after you've played it for long enough. The only thing you can really do is just stop playing it. In most cases, you'll randomly get an urge/craving to play it again later on down the line, and will inevitably do so and then once again play it to death.

I'm surprised this isn't obvious. First game you've ever really gotten totally into or something?

I've played BF2142 since the day it came out (17 Oct?). Between my job, my girlfriend, house- & yard-work and my son hogging the computer I don't get to play anywhere near as much as I'd like to. That goes a long way towards keeping it from getting boring.

Still, I get bored from time to time. (I made BG some time ago and just recently got my last unlock). When that happens I'll change my game-play significantly. For example, for the past couple of months I've played as support with the IDS-1 attached to a tank (a deadly combination). Recently got bored with that and have started flying the gunship a lot for the first time ever. I've played all the BF games starting with BF1942 and have never been into the various aircraft much. (I was a grunt in the army). I'm surprised at how much fun flying the gunship is (especially with the PDS-1 attached).

Raidyr, do you have all the unlocks, pins, badges, ribbons and medals? If not then maybe you could pick one in particular and work on that. Or work on improving a particular stat like your K/D ratio. You could also take a break from it altogether until Highway Tampa comes out. Good luck and have fun. --Jeff in Houston, TX

Yeah, that's a good point. Often what people will do in these type of games is stick to just one role, and never really explore others that much even though they offer an entire different range of play, technique and skills.

Something I often do in games like this and Team Fortress, Tribes, etc, is try to become really good at something most people associate with ****. Just like a guy can use his hands to create a beautiful melody of fart sounds (heh) if he practices enough, you can probably become a serious killer with a weapon people see as weak/poor/etc.

Or perhaps use one so hard to use a lot of people don't bother, but deadly in the right hands;the rifles in a version of Day of Defeat were extremely hard to use effectively but were very effective after a lot of practice. It certainly made the game a lot more exciting and skilful than using generic spray assault gun that everyone else uses #68453, and sometimes made you stand out too.
