Saitek gaming mouse ftw.

i use it and love it! nice weight, 2 left side buttons and one right that have a robust feel to them so u know when u clicked one and hard to accidently push them when your holding mouse. 800dpi standard with a button that instantly changes to 1600dpi. + the shape of the mouse and the buttons being almost right on the front mean a very relaxing position for hte hand to sit in, + because the optical engine only picks up the surface millimeters below the base you can pick it up and move it with almost zero cursor disturbance.............i know because i use to do the same thing. but i learnt with a higher sensitivty so i didnt have to move mouse as much (at first i was all over the place but after a few hours it makes SO much diffeerence for the better)Comment

used to have a MX518 and absolutely LOVED it for gaming and normal use.
upgraded to g5 now that my 518 died, and i love it even more. the tilt wheel buttons are darned useful, especially since im assault.
weapons 1, 2, 3 and be reached with my left hand with ease.
middle mouse button for 4 (hub)
left tilt for 5 (defib)
right tilt for 6 (rockets)
thumb button for 7 (frag)
yea i got the one with 1 thumb button cos i liked the design better, and the forward button on my previous mx518 was hard to reach anw.Comment

An interesting read on gaming mice comparisons. My thought is that only players who are highly competitive, or participating in serious competitions need to really worry about having the best possible mouse.
If you are just in it for fun go for comfort and play-ability (meaning you like how the mouse handles).
I personally love adjustible weight mice as I perfer an unusually heavy mouse when I play.Comment

I have the g5 wired, it has the lil weights you can toss in, which dont really do much. I just tossed the heaviest weights in so it feels like I actually have something in my hand.
I like the on-the-fly dpi adjustment by the scroll wheel. I can go from spray and pray, to precision leading while sniping in no time. Ive noticed a little difference between optical and laser, not much really. But there is ALWAYS a huge difference between wired and wireless.
It was worth getting. Also like that thumb button, great for a back-button on sites and for any button you use often, but dont want to remove your hand to use, like VOIP.
Make sure you download uber options for Setpoint though. Just google it and youll find it without a problem. Adds more customization to all your products that use setpoint.Comment

I was intending to give the link to that article, but CKMC beat me to it. It does show, however, that it's not always a case of "laser is better than optical". After reading it, I opted for an MX 518, being available locally, in my price range, and having got rather a good review, plus the two side buttons, as atm743 said - although there is now a two side-button version of the G5 (once again), I believe.Comment

Yeah, I got myself a G5 not too long ago. Tis great for using the rorche or sniping, but make sure you get the newer G5 (the bluish one) cos it has two side thumb buttons where as the old one (the redish one) only has one.Comment
